article in another not as good golf mag under the headline the hardest and longest par 3 s, number 1 is the 13th at luton hoo :D quote "standing on the back tip of the 13th tee is something of a shock to the system-it's a mere 246yards of the daily yellow tees ! Way down there somewhere among the rough and mature oaks you can vaguely make out a flagstick , Luton hoo's signature hole stroke index no 2, so at least most of us get a shot its 271 yards so you need the power of bubba and the accuracy of luke. Only the very STRONGEST can expect to walk of with a par ,so many try to leave themselves a nice wedge distance -you need a long iron of the tee to do that ! then try and leave a makeable par putt" end quote. Think the nearest the pin prize will be safe :D

Whoever wrote that article isn't that clued up on golf. Luke Donald is about 60th on the tour in driving accuracy, hitting less than 2/3rds of fairways. He still better than the tour average but he's hardly always pinpoint off the tee the way the article suggests.

Oh and that hole sounds interesting to say the least! :D

Have a similar hole at my course, slightly shorter at only 240 but there is a big pound to carry at 220 which is at the front of the green. Plus the green slopes towards the pound making it very hard as it is regually into wind.

I remember it from last year and the thing is it isnt a nice wide open hole either. The entrance to the green is at an angle left to right with a few mounds to the front right and a tree line just to the right of that. quite a tricky slopey green too. Good fun as a short par 4 for most people
