Help 4 Heroes Day

Thanks Rick, thanks really need to go out to the companies that gave their support. A bit of shameless plugging I know but here goes. These are in no particular order:

Orka Golf: Stuart the MD there was superb. It probably took him less than 10 minutes to get back to me with his full support. Sending a set of his top of the range irons and 2 stand bags really was above and beyond my expectations. Thanks Stuart.

Go-Kart: Also agreed to support the event within minutes. Anyone who has dealt with Sandy will know how great she is and how nothing is too much trouble. Not only did she provide a Go-Kart but then added a matching bag to help ramp up the bids.

Justgolfonline: I have been buying kit of these lads for a couple of years now and they offer superb service, highly recommended. They had no qualms about sending a couple of pairs of shoes. I liked the shoes so much when they arrived that I actually bought a pair in the red and white design and thoroughly recommend them.

Stewart Golf: Never had any contact with them before and found Mark the MD a pleasure to deal with. Again, he replied within hours offering their latest push trolley. i had never seen one of these before yesterday and it was stunning, certainly on my list when I need a new trolley.

Galvin Green: Another company that I had not dealt with and who were very accomodating. I expected maybe a shirt off them when they replied so how shocked was I when they sent 4 of their top shirts. Really good looking gear and I wished I had won one.

Titleist: Not really had a mention before in my prize list but they got my email and sent out a box of balls without any thought at all.

Yonex: The real surprise. I had given up hope of getting anything else in when they contacted me on Friday. By the next day the Monty flag was on my doorstep and you all know how much that raised.

Powakaddy: Unfortunately the bag did not arrive in time for the day but I am sure it will be up for auction soon. Another great display of generosity.

And a final thanks to MikeH. Without his permission to use the GM name in my emails I am sure that I would not have got anywhere near as far as I did. And the subscription donations helped to swell the coffers.

A long and rambling email I know but what I wanted to get across was how generous these companies have been. Getting this sort of support in the current economic climate is not easy so a massive thanks to all of them.

Please, remember the genorosity of these companies when you are looking to make purchases in the future.

A few other companies were unable to help this year but promised to help next year so heres to the next one.

Greg, the work you've done to get these items available for the auction is nothing short of incredible.

Really, really good job on getting this sorted for the day.

Beers on me when I eventually get myself down to play your track.

Amazing effort by all concerned especially Rick. Just paidmy entry fee to this, should have been there as an ex crab.

Great work, anyone who caught the piece about H4H on the one show last night will see the ongoing need for this.

I seem to remember a thread about Timgolfys driving distances (£1 for every yard when he hit over 300 & £10 for any drives that went over 320 ??).
Does anyone have details of the yardages and where I should send the money?

For all those interested, see the "timgolfy - time to come clean" thread, where I agreed to pay £150 for an estimated 285 yard drive.

But I think an extra special thanks should go to Rob Pannell who bought no fewer than 4 items, sometimes stepping in to up the price on the underbid items at the last moment! Very well bid!

Updated projection.

Received very generous donations today from Timgolfy (£150), James (£50) & Robobum (£25)....thanks guys.

Grumpyjock also advised me he is donating £200!....thanks Chris. Here is the latest projection, (Over £6,500)

Rick,

The money you and your team have raised for this cause is nothing short of incredible.

Every single one of you should be proud for your achievements and I'm sure the HFH cause will be thrilled with the final donation.

I'm still gutted I couldn't make it or contribute myself as my personal circumstances just don't allow me to but if you ever want a round of golf at my place I'm sure I can sort it out, free of charge, on me.

I'll even speak to our Head Pro Peter Baker and see if he will join us for a round, I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Just let me know Rick if you and any of your team want a game and I'd be honoured to host you. :)

An amazing outcome and some outstanding generosity both in time and money. Its wonderful what can be achieved and makes me proud to be part of this forum.

in the short time I have been a member on the forum I have had the pleasure of my 1st ever round thanks to a forum member, my 1st ever forum meet and now this spectacular effort from all concerned. GM is the best forum by far and you all should be proud of what you have done from those organising to the generosity of everyone taking part and those absent that kindly donated to what is a very worthwhile cause.

Three cheers to you all :)

That is truly outstanding. Well done to everyone involved.

Seeing the documentary tonight on BBC3 "Our war-10 years in Afghanistan" shows you what these guys put on the line. I was genuinely saddened by it. I'm only sorry i couldn't contribute myself.

Fantastic
