Just a quick heads up that the Golf Monthly Forum Help 4 Heroes charity golf day will be held at Blackmoor Golf Club Thursday 21st August 2025 (Golf Monthly top 200 course GB & I) Hopefully August 2025 will be drier than September 2024 !
From an organisation point of view it is much easier to arrange the charity day at my home club. Blackmoor has spent over £500,000 on the course since we last played there, with huge work undertaken on the bunkering, drainage, paths etc. The majority of bunkers have been heather topped, similar to West Hill, Sunningdale etc. New bunkers have been added, and some old ones taken away. The course which is always in good condition should be perfect for our charity day, and an added bonus will be that the heather will be in full bloom just to make the course that little bit harder! I am sure any forummers that have played the course this year will confirm the improvement to the course. Just in case it rains the course is the best draining one in the area, being sand based
I need to confirm a price with the club, but it should come in around the £90 mark. This years justgiving charity donation will be £30. There will be the usual bacon rolls on arrival, 18 holes individual stableford competition and a two course carvery lunch. Shotgun start at 09.00. All holes are easy to walk to.
Hopefully a forummer will arrange another local game on either the day before or day after Blackmoor. I did look at going back to West Surrey for the second day but unfortunately they could not offer the dates we wanted.
Would be great if we could get at least 80 players next year, though we can go up to 92, so guests will be welcome.
If you are interested in playing please put your name down on this thread, and I will update details of the day as I get them. A justgiving donation page will be set up in the New Year.
