Hi all,

I am just introducing my self ant thought this was a good a place to put than any.

I am relatively new to golf. Having played some rounds back when I was 18-19 I have now picked up the bug.

I am not a member of a club yet as I currently playing rugby in the winter and now starting pre season training and all that goes with that. I will properly look to join a club when I can play a tad more often and make full value of the membership.

I am all self taught at the moment with a little steering from my girlfriend mum that plays off 6 and her day (always makes for a good fore ball, girlfriend and the in- laws I do get on well with them which is a good.)

Well, so far I am playing around the 28 mark and am targeting a sub 100 rounds where ever I play. I did have a horrendous slice with a driver so I took myself down the range and just practiced with it till I could hit it about 80% straightish.

I am looking to become a bogy player for the time being and that is my goal for the rest of the summer into the winter and then picking it up next spring. I am hoping to have some lesions to work on my technique. I really just need to keep playing and getting a tad more accurate with my approach shots.

I love it and really look forward to improving and just learning with each round.

Hope to talk with you soon

Hey Chunky, welcome to the forum, look forward to seeing how you get on and all your input.

Welcome to the Forum Chunky - where do you play?

Hi there snaphook,

It is mostly around the Maidstone area. So Cobtree, Tudor Park and the Ridge. Been aroun Chart Hill a few times now and a few others.

Im just liking getting around some nice courses and seeing whats out there. Im trying to angle a round around Rye links course at some stage over the summer to see what that is like as well, that sould be fun.

Nice one, can't say I know the area but I am sure there are many on here who do.

Rye is very nice but difficult to get on, especially without a handicap certificate. Do you have a way in via a member?

You might also consider Princes in Kent as they are not snobbish, the green fees are reasonable and you can get on without having to show a handicap certificate or have written approval from the Secretary! It's a good test of links golf.

'with a little steering from my girlfriend mum'

Sounds like not a bad occasional foreball but not sure i could have my mother in law to be teach me golf!

Welcome and enjoy the banter of which there is loads...
