A couple of years ago somebody got in touch with my Dad to say an old aunt of his had passed away. He got a letter last week giving him the breakdown of the the money that was left. His aunt left just over £77,000 the Heir Hunter people got £26,000 and the Laywers £16,000 he got £290 along with all the rest of his big family.Although he did not know his aunt too well being over 70 years or so since he heard anything about her it seems to me that the wrong people make money.

So 120 people got £290? thats a big family!!

77k - (26k - 16k) = £35k left (ok there is inheritance tax etc, but still a big family!!!)

If it were not for the heir hunters or legal bods, your dad would have got nothing and the government would have got the lot... 26k for a number of years work.. 33% "finders fee"..

Its like dragons den when people wont give up large % of their business and they would rather retain 100% of a mickey mouse business turning over £50k, rather than 60% of a multi million business...

So just what do you think the division of spoils should have been? I guess you know the costs of the Heir Hunters & Solicitors businesses and can figure that into the calculations.

He should be greatful as he would have got HeeHaw if it was not for the work put in by the heir hunters and lawyers.

What a lot of people forget is you don't have to use them to sort out the estate. As long as someone takes responsibilty for the estate then the heir robbers get nothing!

Even though I already know the contents of mums will, funny how a load of cousins and relatives are suddenly "friending" me on Facebook and insisting that we really must get together. Haven't seen some of them for nearly 30 years and funny how a whiff of a bob or two and they come out of the woodwork

Which is fine and dandy if you know they exist!

Thirty years ago my mum and her five brothers and sisters inherited £13k EACH from a person they did not know even existed.

Once the heir robbers have found you you still don't have to use them. They will make you think they have the right to do the work and take your money but the truth is you can refuse their help and they have to give you anything they have found out about your the case.

£42K for lawyers and heir hunters. Disgraceful.
