As the cold weather comes I normally go into hibernation but don’t fancy that this year as long as it’s not absolutely stotting it down I’ll be playing on a weekend

I’m not a fan of wearing loads of layers and like the idea of a heated gilet anyone own one? want brand etc does the battery last?

Or I’m open to your suggestions of being warm with minimal layers

One of our older gents has one and swears by it. Mind you like Orikoru the button is on the outside so if he wears it in the bar, someone will press it at some point and he'll always go "is it me or is it boiling in here". Never works it our ages

My kids got me one last year for Christmas. Wonderful thing. On mine, you can warm up the front or the back, low, medium and warm. I just have the back on, medium to start, down to low or off after a while. It is nice and light, it is basically like any golf gilet, but better when it is really cold. The battery seems to last a long time after charging as well, multiple rounds.

Not 100% of the brand but this looks about right https://www.amazon.co.uk/Braoses-Co...keywords=heated+gilet&qid=1728896549&sr=8-124

Do they work like heated rear windscreen on a car where it'll auto-off after say 10-15 mins or is it manual switch off ?
(& is there a version that chills you down instead of heated?)

My mate's one actually does have this. Wouldn't it be simpler just to take it off?

I've gone old school. 15 minutes stretching as per my occupational health physio sheet, get to club and then use my golfers toolbox to do exercises -
and then hit balls to warm up
Each to their own. That is too much faff for me. A little bit of stretching, press the button and off I go.

You don’t need a heated gillet

Just use the layer system depending on how cold it is

Baselayer
Polo
Mid layer
Gillet
Outer layer

A combination of them will keep you warm

The FJ thermoseries is good and can be used in layers

There are multiple winter trousers out there

Then if needed get some hand warmers

Not for golf but I have a Milwaukee heated gilet for when I'm working outside on stuff and it's a bit chilly (0 or below basically). It's a brilliant bit of kit and so I can't imagine a golf one would be any different.

I get the whole "you can layer up" but why do that if technology offers a solution without looking and feeling like the Michelin Man.

He said he didn’t want to layer up, that’s the whole point of his question 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ah sorry missed that bit

If someone doesn’t want to layer up then it’s picking a single item that’s thick enough to keep heat in as well as breathable and doesnt restrict too much movement - tough ask

But if they don’t like layers then what covers the arms if wearing a heated gillet

Just a regular mid layer. It's your core that needs to be kept extra warm, your arms are generally okay. If it is a cold wind then you need something to keep the bite out but on the whole, keep the gilet area warm, jobs done. It's what I did on Saturday.

Yep - that’s the layering system using gillet and mid layer , exactly the same for me on Saturday 👍

If it was windy I'd used a lined windproof jumper. Keeps me warm without being too bulky. I am weird in as much as I hate my arms being cold so for me a gillet is not really something I'd wear heated or not. I have to have warm arms and so layering for me
