Took the wee man to Hampden tonight. After watching that game I'm off the opinion that Hazard now has to be considered amongst the greats of this game. He is simply a different class.

Sits amongst the Maradona's, Platini's Messi's etc comfortably.

Different class and a pleasure to watch.

I wouldn't put him in the same class as those that you mentioned.
Yes, a very talented player, but [no dig intended] up against Scotland, any quality player is going to look fantastic.
Put him up against a top International or Prem side, then whilst he is very good, he ain't a Messi.

Look at his performances in the World Cup and week in week out. Top top quality, definitely amongst the world's best in my opinion.

I agree on a couple of points, 1) up against Scotland !! 2) he ain't no Messi, however, as pointed out, at the WC he was arguably the best player in the tournament, and he wasn't up against Scotland there. I'm with Jacko on this, top 4 or 5 player in the world.

Steady on. That Scotland team would have made Robbie Savage look like Messi!

Pure class, always rated him, probably the best player in the world currently playing.
Pahaha

What do they put in the Irn Bru up there?!

In the last 4 years he's gone missing for almost two seasons.

He's fun to watch, and i'd have him over Neymar, But he's got a long way to go to earn the accolade of worlds best.

He isn’t even the best player in the Prem for goodness sake , the guy has gone missing for two seasons in the past 4 , he fails to turn up in big games many times. He is a talented player no doubt but he might make top ten

Certainly one of the current best top 5 midfielder players in the world.
Unfair to judge him against other positions, different roles etc

Steady on. Plays a good game and suddenly he is up with the best ever? Superb player when on form, but last few seasons he has been patchy.

Nope. He had an outstanding world cup and is a world class player. To focus on one match against lesser opposition is trying to belittle my thoughts.

I don't follow international football but I took the lad to see a superior opposition and really enjoyed it. Belgium are a class above any British side and it was a joy to watch.

Hazard dictated everything, he was simply sublime once again and showed the same professionalism and class that he showed against big teams and world class opposition like England obviously think they are!

Yet he has been found wanting a few times on big occasions and even gone missing for a whole season. He is very talented and if he could produce it on a regular basis then he would be looked at more favourably - but he doesn’t, comparisons to Messi and Maradona are imo way off target - nowhere near in terms of ability and application

Yet as I say he produced it on the world stage!

We can agree to disagree but for me he's easily up there with the best. Top top player.

On potential I would agree with you but he needs to develop more consistency.

After all if he were, as you say, a top,top player then either Real Madrid or Barcelona would have already made a big effort to sign him.

But the players you mention at the very least took their team to a final - and at times single handedly - he fell short at the semi final stage . He didn’t even make the Dream Team of the World Cup and not even his countries best player. He is a good player but putting him alongside Maradona , Messi etc ?!

When he is winning Balon Dor and World Player of the Year etc as well as Champions League and winning big comps then he can maybe be named alongside them but at the moment I would suggest most wouldn’t have him in the top 5 if top ten and maybe not top 3 in the Prem.

A great player but definitely not consistent enough at the moment for club or country. Scotland well outclassed last night

For the last time Scotland are not the issue here. I don't follow international football. I had the chance to go and watch the second ranked team in the world and thought my 11 year old would like the experience.

It was a joy to watch Belgium, they are a class above anything I've seen in years. Hazard is the engine and the brains in that side, he isn't just good he's phenomenal.

He strolled through the World Cup and I enjoyed watching him again last night.
