I am just glad you lot are no where near the Arsenal boardroom. Although if you were you might appreciate what Wenger has done for this club. He will not quit and he will not be fired.

Not a great one for Footy threads but I have to say this..
No matter the reasons, they are largely irrelevent to this, a club the size and stature of Arsenal not winning anything for 6-7 years is a disaster. Can you imagine ManU not winning anything for that length of time - whatever the reason?
Personally, I hope Wenger stays. The way he organises his team mean Arsenal probably wont win anything for another 6-7 years.
If Aresenal are one of the Top 4(5?) then they have to win things - end of story. ManU and Chelsea regularly win something, ManC have a good chance of the FA Cup, even Liverpool are starting to get back to where they were and Spurs are no mugs these days either. But it's winning that matters - who remembers who came 2nd in Football?

Needs an "English" centra half, a midfield enforcer ( think Petit, Viera, Gilberto)and a truly world class striker....oh, and a goalie !
Wenger has always put the good of the club in front of short term success. Managers like Rednapp will always ask for the sun the moon and the stars and leave the financing of it all to the board. We've all seen at some of his previous clubs how that can backfire if the board aren't strong enough to say 'no'. Man Utd are living on the edge of bankrupcy year after year, and we've seen how their fans don't like that, either. Chelsea and Man City have owners who can afford to waste money on good and bad buys alike. And look at how the greed of Moores has helped Liverpool maintain their rate of failure.
Other clubs like Newcastle, Aston Villa, Everton, etc etc are historically as big and powerful financially as Arsenal. All have thrown money at their teams over the years to get up to our level of self financing success.
They have all failed.
Look at how financial failure has cost Leeds.
Arsenal will not make those mistakes.

Let's see what Arsene does over the next few weeks/months to get us ready for next season.
That's when he should be judged.
The last 6 years have been managed with one hand tied behind his back. He's put the success of the club in front of the success of the team.
I think that most fans are saying that now is the time to change that.
But to suggest that he goes now, just as more money is likely to be made available.
Well, that's just stupid imho.
I'll judge him after next season, but not before.

same old rubbish being spouted. Wenger made an approach for Jagielka and Everton asked for nearly £20 mil which he is no where near worth. Song is our midfield enforcer. RVP is a world class striker. Schezny is a young and very talented goal keeper. I would like to see a new RB and some squad players to replace, Denilson, Bendtner, Rosicky and Eboue. Other than that I am happy that no major changes will be made.

Ermmm only 2 managers in the premiership better than wenger!?
Slightly biased view but what moyes has done at everton with pretty much no money, small squad and having to build a team from scratch pretty much surely must make him one of the top managers in premiership.
I know everton aint actually won any silverware since he's been there but he has took them from a club fighting for relegation most seasons to a team that has challanged for europe on most seasons and bringing through some good young english players.
You don't get voted LMA manager of the year 3 times (more than any other manager) for nothing.
Slightly biased view but what moyes has done at everton with pretty much no money, small squad and having to build a team from scratch pretty much surely must make him one of the top managers in premiership.

Disaster is not qualifying for Champions League. Not winning a trophy is just HUGELY frustrating. You have to remember that when the Premiership was formed there was a big five ( Man Utd, Liverpool, Newcastle, Everton, and Arsenal iirc. By 2001 that had changed to Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, leeds and Chelsea. IE in reality Arsenal have leapt above other teams who have historically been our equals.
Can you imagine ManU not winning anything for that length of time - whatever the reason? 1969 - 1977 Nothing 1977 - 1983 Nothing 1985 - 1990 Nothing. In fact 4 FA cups in 30 something years, no league titles, and they spent the majority of that time in the second division ( well a heck of a lot of it, anyway )

ManU and Chelsea regularly win something, I've said it before, Chelsea have only won things since Abramovich's money gives them the freedom to fail spectacularly in the transfer market, this year has proven that they cannot get anywhere without buying success. Man Utd had to ransom the club to keep up with Chelsea. So far that has proven successful. But if it ever fails, what's teh chances of Utd going the way of Leeds ?
ManC have a good chance of the FA Cup, Only since they have invested a few hundred million in their squad

I agree that Moyes is a good manager, but he isn't ever going to be a potential Arsenal boss.
Everyone is judging Wenger on his success, or lack of it. Therefore to keep a level playing field everyone has to be judged the same way.
And everyone except for Fergie and Jose falls short.

you need a keeper with experience not some who other teams think is worth a goal of a start to them.
Sounds reasonable to me.
However, being an old fart I'd like to see an experienced head like Kevin Richardson just to help keep things together when things get tight at this stage of the season.

Arsene Wenger has admitted interest in the signing of Sergio Ramos in the summer. Apparently he believes Ramos's ability for throwing away trophies would fit in at Arsenal

Who exactly is better? Kuyt? Huntellar? Pavulychenko? Crouch? not one of them even comes close. RVP is a world class striker he has had plenty of injury problems but when he plays he scores goals and is for me top 5 maybe even top 3 in the prem.

But if moyes was manager of arsenal and had some of the so called world class players at his dissposal i realy think he would have won more than wenger.
Moyes knows how to get the best out of his players and they will fight for him whereas i doubt most of the arsenal team would do the same for wenger.
I think players have to be scared of there manager in a way, knowing that if they don't perform he will let them know by giving them a earfull or dropping them. Wenger just dosn't seem like the type of manager that does this, i may be wrong but to me he just lacks abit of bite.
