Has Taylormade been sold?

MyGolfSpy not letting it lie, just got this email in my inbox:

Expect an interesting next few months for TaylorMade Golf.
The information from a highly-credible source is that, in early February, adidas entertained an initial round of bidding for TaylorMade Golf.

Six bids were received, five of them from private equity firms, the sixth from a competitor, specifically Bridgestone.

It looks unlikely that TaylorMade will right the ship in time to stave off a sale.

If Bridgestone do buy TM does that mean no more TM in the UK ,as Bridgestone have pulled out .

I think it would make sense for Bridgestone to buy it. Their attempt to supply their own brand into the European market didn't work so move into it using TM. They can save costs by amalgamating R & D, head office etc. That or share technology and so reduce those costs. The Bridgestone brand can concentrate on the Far East but use TM elsewhere where they already have brand presence.

I can see the logic in that. Maybe drop the TM ball range and relaunch their own back into the UK as well

TM Tour Preferred balls are among the very best available today IMO, I hope they're here to stay.

Use to love the TP red and TP black from a while back. While the Tour Preferred is a good ball do you not think Bridgestone have better balls in their armoury

No, and I've tried them all (the premium Bridgestone balls). TM Tour Preferred range all the way for me.

Fair comment. Each has their own preferences. I was merely muting the ideal of Bridgestone using their balls if TM are sold to them

TM appear to be offloading stock, lots of cheap sets kicking around from likes of Fore24/Sports HQ. The Tour Preferred MC has been available twice at £250 and the MB will be up tomorrow probably for similar. The RSi was on today for £320.

These deals are superb for brand new irons all be it older models.

Deffo some bargains to be had, I picked up a brand new set of TM MC irons at Xmas for a song.

The RSI forged are currently going for 320 quid on fore24

Its a good job i love my Adams XTDs otherwise i dont think have lasted the day without splurging..
