I have celebrated it in a typically English way. I have driven home in a German car, listening to an Australian band on my Japanese stereo, and on getting home, have drunk Belgian lager, and had a Chinese, washed down with a Spanish red.

Isn't it great to be English?

Missed this post unbeleivably!

Happy St Georges for yesterday. Had a few beers last night to honour him. Worked as usual, no day off for us English!

As said before, more is put on St Patricks than St Georges in England. Suppose flying the cross of St George will offend minorities! Not at all. It's the bloody PC brigade who come up with lunatic ideas like that. Most minorities are not offended in any way at all.

What a pathetic country we live in (England) Scot's, Irish & Welsh need not take any notice of this rant. St George's day, What! Eh! exactly. We are not allowed to celebrate our patron saint unlike all the other nationalities in our islands because it may offend someone. Why the heck is it not a national holiday? every other countries in the world have one on their saints day. The politicians of this country make me sick to the stomach. When the Irish guy's get bladdered on St Patrick's day it is expected and no one screams racism but if the English did it woe betide us.

I was told some years ago that St George never actually set foot in England. Apparently the patron saint of England should be St Alban. I'm happy to be corrected though.

Happy St Georges day to you all.

It was my boy's birthday - what a great day to be born on!!!

As has been discussed at length on the forum, this country has indeed gone down the pan. We're a country that, supposedly, is a democracy. Now, in my mind, a democracy means that the majority vote wins. We seem to be the only country in the world where the minority wins.

I work in an industry where if you're straight, white and male then you'll get nothing. There's no meritocracy - you have to fill a quota - do that and your career's flying.

The PC brigade are alienating a massive demographic and the politicians are doing nothing about it. I guess they think that if they ignore it, perhaps it'll go away. I fear not.

Yesterday, for the first time, I felt a change. I've no idea what it was but I sensed a reaffirming of our national identity. Maybe when we win the world cup the change will be complete...... :D
