Well according to a Rightmove survey, Leigh-on-Sea is #1; Farnham is #2 and Monmouth is #3 Happiest Place in Britain to Live

I fully accept blame for Farnham not being #1 - miserable bleedin' moaner that I am...:(

But it is a strange idea this...even surveying 21,000 website users I do wonder how many voted for each of the above.

And it seems everywhere in Scotland is miserable - that's more like it - my sort of place :)

Farnham does well as it has so many pubs. Was the survey done at throwing out time ?:)

I don't think it is voted upon, it is results from surveys. These things change each year, either happiest or best place to live, as they don't seem to want one place to dominate. Good publicity for those places involved, Alnwick up here was crowned Best Place to Live a few years ago and the national publicity helped with its tourism.

They went into a tea shop in the winning town this morning. The cakes looked fantastic and would certainly make me happy, and fat, if I lived there.

Having lived a few miles away from Leigh, I really do need a drop dead icon to believe its no 1

Well of the residents of L-o-S I heard interviewed this morning they did sound very happy.

Don't think this is a quality of life assessment - Banchory in Aberdeenshire and Fleet in Hants, usually features very high in that and they are nowhere in sight, this is just happy-town,

Anyway - I can confirm that as I walk through the centre of Farnham everyone does seem very happy - that is until they spot me...then they just go miserable and scurry down side alleys.

Maybe the votes for the half dozen other Leighs scattered around the country were allocated to L-o-S! :D

Mind you, in comparison with Southend......

Farnham must be a good bet, my brother has lived there in the same house since the early 70s. He does get around on a bike a lot so the traffic problems he gets to ignore.
