Hank Haney - the big miss

I think Monty nailed a big down side for Haney in this .. coaches & players are suppose to have a close relationship , would you want HH as your coach if there is a chance he might write another book & this time tell all about your "private" conversations .. I wouldnt ..

two things here in the piece in the link to the story (thanks Little Jockey)..
Poulters remark regarding Woods not finishing in the top 5 was not instigated by poulter he simply answered a question .. Do you think Tiger will finish in the top 5? he said no i dont think so .. whats wrong with that ? it was his opinion , its not like he was slaging woods or instigated the convo ..its the press stiring crap..

Tiger obviously saw HH as a friend & text him about Poulter turnig up invited ,and rightly (IMO) valled him what he did , HH is a sleeze ball for divulging private stuff of his one time friend , bitter & spiteful ..be honest , we have all sent texts or emails to friends about people that we wouldnt want them to see.. i want to buy the book but hate contributing to HH fund .. even if it was only a €..

Ha, got to admire the brazen cheek of it whether you agree with it or not re poulter that is (and he isnt one of my fave golfers)
I think the relationship crash between haney and woods is well documented and its his way of sticking one on him.
Sounds like an interesting read, i might just partake in a little read of that.

For all that people think Haney has broken some kind of code (and I have a little bit of sympathy for this point of view), if Tiger didn't behave like a monumental dick at times then there'd be nothing for Haney to talk about.

Haney may be firing the bullets but Tiger loaded the gun.

HH is getting it tight for this and all this talk of relationships etc but people are forgetting how quickly HH was dropped by Tiger after the fallout from his personal life revelations.

HH is out to make a quick buck by giving people an insite into what Tiger is all about behind closed doors and fair play to him seekling a pay day.

All I would say If people think HH is out of line, dont buy the book or read the extracts.

Some good points being made here.

The thing is that this is a unique case. There's no other golfer apart from Tiger who publishers would be interested in to the extent they'd publish a kiss and tell book from their former swing coach.

If I was a pro, I wouldn't be worrying that Haney was going to do the same again write about me.... I'd just thing he was indiscreet, unprofessional and bitter, which would be reason enough not to work with him.

Yes Tiger might deserve some of this to be dished back, but for my own self respect, I wouldn't do what Haney has done. Oh, hang on, thinking about it, for A few million dollars, I probably would! :D

I wonder if Hank H ever had to lie for Tiger to his friends and family ....
'Of course Tiger was here last Monday'

When in actual fact, Tiger was probably spending the evening with 'another member of his staff'

I am going to buy it as I am interested HH's take on Tiger. As for the Poulter 'incident' I actually found it quite amusing and highlights how detached Tiger is from he fellow pros (and also highlighting just how much Americans in general don't 'get' our humour). Hear stories all the time of Eurpoean, South African and Australian players sharing planes together and helping each other out.

I won't be buying it, but I don't see why Haney shouldn't publish it. Tiger slagged him off after leaving, and appears to have been happy also for new coach Sean Foley to do likewise. There is no doctor-patient or lawyer-client confidentiality clause that applies to coach-player, and if Nike made yet another PR blunder by not asking for one, slap it up them.

I just ordered it,I'll read anything golf related as I travel a lot,and the fact that I don't really like Tiger all that much I think will make for interesting reading. I'm actually more interested on how he tried to work his swing as I though Tiger under Butch had a great repeatable swing.

I had very little knowledge of this book and no interest but having read this post and them some bits on the book I am absolutely fascinated by it!

Boring to me.. Poulter sponged a lift and Tiger put some porn on the tele.......big deal, I'm watching porn right now...... with my other hand :p

Haney has every right to publish as long as he publishes only the truth and clearly marks as his 'own opinion' where necessary... although I can't see many people respecting Haney for this. Sounds like he was a crap coach anyway... clearly he didn't know the ballflight laws ;)

hmm ye, I just read a bit about him asking Tiger to grip the club is his palm rather than in his fingers.... whats all that about. I think he said it was to stop him getting to handzy with his shots.

Still whatever works I guess but I have always been told to grip the club in my fingers.
