Hi all,

Just joined a new club, Ganstead Park just outside of sunny Hull.

Have two cards marked, 1st one 96 with 3 quadrouple bogies!!! (Think I was feeling the pressure). 2nd one was yesterday, 87 (15 over) nothing over double.

Any ideas what the current handicap system is? It used to be an average of the 3 cards when I was a member at Hornsea 8 years ago (22 then) but I've heard current protocol is for the lowest score as your handicap.

Thanks in advance....

I'm sure I've read it's the best of the 3 after stableford adjustment ie. your 96 will become 90, so 15 if you don't beat 87 next time out.

Yes, it should be the difference between the lowest netted down card and the SSS of the measured course played.

Playing to handicap is not an average round, it should be a good one. Statistically, if a player has a correct handicap he should average a few shots above (low players one or two, higher handicappers four or five).
