Handicap target

Myself i was 12 dead,my aim was single figures so i put 9.4,this week i got cut to 9.5 so im nearly there.Maybe this year 8.4 and to stay there.I must admit the forum has helped enormously. Not just from the tips on the forum like "putts from 3 foot that were costing me dearly" and Biffers tips on wedge play, but also playing with better players from the forum.Watching Pieman and Robobums driving at forum meets and the tips they gave have helped tremendously.

my aim last year was to get to 15 possibly 14 at a push i finished on 10.3 now this year i am setting myself a hard target of 6 so i now have to start the hard work of improving my short game and putting

Target of between 9.4 and 7 was reached with a season low of 8.2. Currently off 8.3. If I can be off 8 this time next year then I'll ne happy but to set a definite target - let's go for 7.3. That will make a whole shot cut, not a bad percentage drop.

Started at 9.5, ended the year at 9.8, after a very consistent years play.
Buffer'd more than went up, but sadly still crept up a smidge.

Still, won a Matchplay Club Comp, so name in Gold Letters on Club board again, so that was a result.

Season target - get back to 9, and stay there by end of 2011. I'd love to get to 8, but Brough is a tough track, and I aint that young anymore, so that would be a result. hey ho.

Roll on March/April.

I'm starting the year at 1.2 and am aiming to get to 0.6 (got it to 0.8 mid season last year) so I can enter the Scottish Amateur Championship. Just to say I've played in it would be amazing!

Currently at 12.0 after dropping from 18.4 in 2010. This year only specific target is single figs. Not bothered whether that is 7/8/9 I will take anything.
Had a couple of 2 over gross in none comps but main tees and greens so far this year.
I feel now it's all about the short game!

What will be will be

Started last year at 19.6 and finished at 10.7 after setting myself single figures. So I guess this year I will take 9.4 to finish with although if I play at my best I think 8 is realistic.

Currently off 16. Not bad after only 5 months (given my previous 30 year absence from the game). I used to play off 7 as a junior, so if I can just sort out my sloppy judgement of distance on my short game then single figures should be well within reach.

Think I said single figures on the back of a glorious season. Had that in terms of winning one of the big events my club and a few 2nd and 3rds in medals and stablefords. Handicap cuts were more elusive and I went uo 0.8 over the course of the season.

This year I'm forgetting the single figure business as that will take care of itself if I play steady enough. Trying to concentrate more in comps, have more fun ad play as much as I can and only hit the range and practice ground to correct faults or to work on specifics like chipping/bunkers etc. My prediction for 2011 - 14!

Only back playing again since end of summer, was off 5 when my knee went properly 5 yrs ago (and scratch years before that). Have been allocated a new handicap of 10 which feels highly generous (i put the cards in as soon as back playing due to being end of summer, wouldve been better to have waited probably). Target for me is to get it back to cat 1, though I expect that may take more than this year but seems a realistic target for now.

My last year target was from 8.4 to 5.4 and i got down to 4.7. So i was chuffed. But looking back last year my swing was cr*p, my short game held me together. This years target is 1.4. Set myslef some short and mid term goals. Got some structured practise. Developed a pre shot routine. Keep on with the lessons and work on the mental game and I think I can make it. I really want to be a plus figures golfer next year. I fancy a crack at open qualifying.

There may be a few people saying that's a huge jump. I heard some stat about how hard it was to get from 5 to scratch, but i'm ready for a challenge. Plus I have a 12 week summer this year, with a guaranteed minimum of 2 qualifiers a week in the summer.

We'll see where I am in a year.

I set myself a target of 7 last year from 11.5, the best I got to was 10.3 I put it down to moving course and home back to NI, so this year I have no excuse, would be very happy with 8....

Started at 8.9....target was 5. Got down to 7.0 and then decided to have a swing change for the platform to get to 5.

Unfortunately I went up to 9.4 trying to embed the new swing.
Finally, it started to click and I got down to a low of 6.6.

Finished at 6.7 after stupidly playing in a qualifier in frosty conditions.

This year the target is CAT 1 again and I would be pleased with 5.4 and absolutely delighted with 4.4

Looking back on mine now it was definatley a bit over ambitious of me to expect myself to come down from 20 to 12 in 12 months....

I played nearly 20 competitions and have been cut to 16(15.9).....
But i do think that i wasnt maybe practicing properly either something that i will be giving a purpose to this year after a little guidance.....

I would be more than happy to reach 12 by the end of this season and be comfortable playing to it.....I think that its alot more realistic than last years goal in which i think i was being a bit too greedy.....

My putting is one of the stronger parts of my game from last season so hopefully this might account for a couple of shot drops :)

I was not commenting last year but watching the forum from afar so no rash optimism
But early last year I went up to 16.6 after playing at 16 for about 2 years and won the first comp playing off 17 the next week, it was a board comp as well
I had a good spring winning a couple more and got down to my lowest ever of 14.1. Having now slipped back up to 14.7 my aim is to get back to playing 14 and lower if I can, no unrealistic aims. ;)
got to stop the yippish odysey, might have to wear a plaster cast on my left wrist. (or any other suggestions)
