Played in a qualifier at the week-end. Scored 31 points (again!). Par is 70, CSS on the day was 70.
Competition was won with 36 points.
Should I have gone out .1? I'm cat 2.
I don't understand CSS and all that.

:D :D :D

In the past I've played in comps during the winter that were "reduction only" so if you played well you got cut but if you played shite you didn't!
Not sure if that happens these days but it might be the reason.

Just checked on HDID and in the competition results it states along the top "reduction only". So I guess this is why it was. Thanks for that.
;)

Interesting one Imurg, the "rules" of handicapping by CONGU says that

" A committee does not have the authority to organise a competition in which handicaps can only be reduced but not increased ie pre determine that a competition is for handicap "reduction only"" See page 13 CONGU handbook.

Otherwise, I think Smiffy should have had .1 added

This is correct but the comp was seemingly set up correctly and the scores on the day determined the reduction only status of the comp and had nothing to do with a decision by officials before the event. There must have been a very low % of people in buffer zones.

Guessing a previous post is right by saying the SSS of the course of yellow tees would be 67 or below.

£30 is a lot of money in Scotland you know.....ive heard you can get a years membership at a top course for that :D

Just to put your mind at rest.
The Southern lads are real men. You'd have no problem from them.
It's the Northern batty boys that you wouldn't want to bend down in front of
;)
