Hi everyone, my first time so be gentle ;).
My problem is this. Last September after a 10 yr break from the game i decided to bite the bullet, jump on e-bay & start playing again. Breightmet, one of my local clubs, had a great 18 mth offer on so they were the club for me.
Anyway, with great encouragement from the pro i got my 3 cards in, (all crap) and got my handicap of 28.
Now the problem. Since then my job commitments have changed & i'am now unable to play in the weekend comps, but i'am still able to get out twice a week & play. Inevitably my game has improved & is now close to what it was 10 yrs ago (14). So close in fact that last week i scored 86 & 84.
So what do i do? How do i get my h/c down without being lynched? :o
Please help, there must be a solution to this dilema i can't be the only one out there this has happened to.
Thanks in advance;
Whippet.:p

You can put in supplementary cards but there are specific rules that cover this.look on the Congu web site. welcome :)

Best advice I can give is speak to the handicap sec and explain the situation, see what you can work out. I assume that you could arrange for supplementary cards to be handed in.

Welcome to the forum by the way, join in lots of good, bad and downright ugly discussions go on here :D

If you cant play in comps why do you need a handicap? Just for games with fiends and the like? If so you can get a handicap calculator from the net or have some resonable deal with your friends. Are there no week day comps you can get into.

Submit a few supplementary cards.....sorted.....might also be worth speaking to the H/C secretary.

You can submit one per week up to a maximum of 10 per year.

Thanks everyone, i shall see the pro tomos about these supplementary cards.
In answer to alexs' question, i had every intention of playing in comps when i joined the club, but my lousey employers changed the shift pattern with little or no consultation.
Oh well here's to new employers in the near future, i know there's something out there.
THanks again.

eh? unless he's changed it in the last 15 mins:confused:

@ OP Surely they have a midweek (usually Tuesday or Wednesday) medal you can play in?

P.S Welcome

Agree with the supplementary cards, but have you been playing on your own midweek and from which tees? The only reason is we all tend to play better without a score card in hand as there is no pressure and we relax and swing freely. Playing in a medal when every shot counts can often sort out where your handicap should be.

To Darth & Alex the answers are no. Its me first time on any golf forum, and looking at me fixture book there's a few senior comps, (not quite there yet) & a few league fixtures for the good uns.
In answer to snaphookwedge, a valid point. I always play of the back tees, u must do if your trying to be acurate with your round analysis. Pressure is funny, it never used to affect me but now i'am a bit older who knows. One thing in my favour, i never do any counting until i'am sat at the bar, half a shandy in hand.

Reguarding the chipper. I'am embarassed to say its the best £6 i've spent. I used to have a junior sized 8 iron for the same reasons but for the life of me i couldn't find it anywhere, i bet it saves me 3 or 4 shots per round.

joined new club with new h/c,can enter comps, and get a change, but can't win anything until ive played 3,some chance of that though, not sure if all clubs do this,so sorry for the obvious if they do

How does this supplementary cards thing work? And can anyone (Cat1 ) do it? It always used to be the case that the county maintained Cat 1 handicaps and they couldn't be reduced under general play.

I'm not really up to date with all this new fangled technology ;)
