Just want to clarify something about my handicap.

My 1st handicap was 24.6.

Played 1st comp was 26 over par, with 2 triple bogeys and a 4+ on a hole.

My 2nd comp was also played off 24.6 as the book in clubhouse showed no adjustment. I scored 23 over par, with 3 triple bogeys.

My 3rd comp again was played off 24.6 as the book showed no adjustment. I scored 20 over par, with no triples.

Could someone in the know let me know if I should have recieved any adjustments according to the EGU. From what I can gather I should be off around 22 or 21 by now??? :D

Steve,
Hard to say without knowing all the details, but the first thing to look at is the Competition Scratch Score (CSS) for the three rounds you refer to, as par is actually irrelevant when it comes to handicaps.
Do you play at a course where the Standard Scratch Score (SSS) is a couple or more below par perhaps? If that's the case, that might explain why your rounds weren't quite low enough to have any effect.

... one other thing. Did any of the triple bogeys come on holes where you get 2 shots (ie Strokes Indices 1 to 7) as that would also have some bearing?

To work out handicap adjustments you should calculate your stableford score. 36 points would then equal a level par round, assuming competition scratch score(CSS) was also level then you would not make any adjustment a score in the buffer zone (32-36 points in your case). For a score under 32 you would have an increase of .1 and for a score over 36 a decrease of .4 multiplied by the number of points you were over 36.

So by my reckoning assuming CSS was level par for each of these comps you would have received no adjustment in the first (Stabelford score either 36 or 36). An adjustment of -.8 (38pts)in the second and -1.6 (40pts)in the third. So you would now be playing off 22.4

You should have self adjusted your handicap before playing in the third and therefore should have been disqualified for declaring the wrong handicap.

CSS is 70 on each of the comps. Par is 72 for the course of Whites.

Triples came only once on a hole where I get 2 shots, Stableford was not the format for any of the comps. But if it was I scored

1st Comp 35 Pts Stableford
2nd Comp 38 Pts Stableford
3rd Comp 41 Pts Stableford

As CSS is two below course par, a score of 38 points equates to playing to your handicap, therefore, the only round that would earn you a cut would be the third, where you played three shots better than handicap so 3 x 0.4 = a cut of 1.2, the other two were within your buffer so no change.

Sorry, just realised the triples wouldn't actually make any difference off 25 as they're all already nett double bogeys at worst anyway, so only the hole you were +4 on would be subject to any adjustment
