Been spending my money on lessons rather than new sparkly equipment.

On Wednesday we play a 'hat' it's 14 holes, winner gets a few balls. So I played the first with a par next was a double (out of 1 bunker onto another) head went down but then I hit a few pars and a birdie and a bogie.
At the turn I was sitting on 25 points the lads I played with just laughed at my banditry. Then BANG double bogey, triple and double - the wheels totally fell off - all the shots where poor.
I did not know what to do - my new swing just fell apart - my confidence fell away and I was doing some combination of old and new swing. How do you keep going with a new swing - is it just practice and muscle memory?

I just dont want it to happen again - fap me, even with my front 9 I would have still got a 0.1 the way I as going on Wednesday.

I think you did what I normally do - get carried away. You had 25 points which is superb but rather than concentrate on the here and now, your mind starts running wild - planning winning speeches, etc.

It's hard but you've got to concentrate on one shot at a time.

Your swing was clearly working to get you 25 points. Perhaps you stopped concentrating, thinking you'd mastered the game and the game came back and bit you in the nuts. Once again, easily done.

You've done it once, now go out and do it again. You know you can.

When grooving a new swing theres only one thing to do , keep at it. Otherwise stay off the course in comps and just practice things around the course until youre happy it will stand up under pressure.

Or go into the comps with zero expectation, and take the pressure off your swing that way.

Expect to blow out at some point, and then one day, when you don't, you'll get yourself a nice new sleeve of balls, and loads of abuse in the bar.

Now isn't that something to look forward to ?

If you can get to that stage the swing is definitely working. You just got way ahead of yourself and I'm guessing tried to protect your score. You probably tried to swing "easier" and began to steer the ball an not swing with the same freedom you had before. Its an easy thing to do and a natural reaction to a good score. The thing to do is to trust yourself and say that you have played well so far so why would anything change unless you change it. The more you keep getting into that position especially in medals etc, the easier it becomes to trust everything to get you through the last few holes.
