Gutted (literally)

Homer, they are able to do a lot of pancreatic surgery laproscopically now which is great news

But bloody difficult to say....

Good luck Homer by the way. As others have said, your health is far more important than a week-end away playing golf. You can do that at anytime.
;)

Is it a day job or an overnight stay in the hospital?

In and out within an hour fella, its only local anasthetic they give you. Its weird like watching some doctor pulling your nads around while you watch!!

The very worst bit is getting injected with the local as that knacks, the rest is a doddle!

Just found out the date for surgery to repair my damaged pancreas is August 18th and that I'm going to have to miss the Belfry trip. As I've been waiting over a year for the date and given the improvements it will make I can't afford to try and move it.

Pretty hacked off right now

1. Good luck with the op. It's a real shame it coincides with the Belfry.

2. Thread hijack re "the snip": here's a top tip: do not, under any circumstance, wear a full highland kilt outfilt including sporran less than a fortnight after the op. "If the op don't make you sterile, the banging of the sporran sure will"

Problem was I've been on a waiting list for a year as the procedure is apparently quite specific and not generally performed (something to do with the damage caused to the pancreatic lining during and immediately after the near fatal blow out). The consultant will be explaining all in the next few weeks and then its countdown to the op. I think from what I've heard the guy is an avid golfer so I'll ppint him in this direction and you can all petition him to postpone for a week so I can make a guest appearance

Sorry to hear you're going to miss the Belfry meet Homer. Can only agree with everyone else, your health always comes first.
Maybe after the procedure and some rest, it will improve your lack of stamina over the last few holes, as you've mentioned in previous posts.

Hope all goes well,

Golfmmad.

Not sure of the full extent yet - still got to have my pre-op assessment where I find out the full story. I'm hoping its going to be keyhole and non-invasive but talking to a guy at the hospital from one of our Gastro wards he seems to think it'll be the full slice and dice.

If it is keyhole I reckon 3-4 weeks out max but maybe 6 if they open me up.

Yuk.

The idea of going under the knife scares the bejesus out of me. But if you gotta have it, then you gotta.

Get as much golf in pre op as possible, and then rest fully after - the long term benefits aren't worth gambling with.

Hmmmm my GP must have done something wrong as it was the most excrutiating pain i've ever felt!....and i used to play in goal and would regularly get a ball or boot in the Gentlemans region!!! It is true though only a 15min job and i staggered back to my car trying not to throw up afterwards!
