Gutted is not the word

I am so gutted today. Our Captains cup was today, stableford format, course was pick and place on the fairways so became a non qualifier. Anyway to sum it up I lost out on poxy countback. 43 points with 2 blobs, 24 out 19 back. Four of us had the same score so I ended up fourth on the countback.

What makes it very hard to swallow is the four idiots(bit harsh) infront and our club for putting them together. It was a shotgun start and we started on the 10th a long par 4. By the time we had putted out they had only just finished teeing off on the 11th a short par 3!. By the time we reached the 16th we had been out 2hr 30mins!!!!. In the end our pro asked them to let us through on the 17th. We then went round the front 9 in 1hr 30 mins!. My gripe is the four ball who got put together were 2 members who dont play in comps and 2 new members who had never played the course before!!!. To say they had no idea how to play would be an understatement. Its not there fault but why they did not let us through is beyond me.

why because it was pick and place did it become a non-qualifier? was the course shortened, or any other changes?

14th shortened as well from 410 yard par 4 to 170 yard par 3. Im taking the positives from this one though. Im shooting in the 80's reguarly so I know the big cut is coming soon.

No chance. I wouldnt of shut up about winning!!!. Im still young so hopefully I will have plenty of more chances to win a club major.

Do you not get a cut, due to it being pick and place?

Congu only generally allows Preferred Lies to be used for Qualifying Comps (and then only 6 inches) during period October 1st to 30th April. Consent from Unions is required for rounds to be qualifying outside that period - and quite a few did that this year, extending it to May 31.

It would still be possible to get a Clause 23 cut, but would depend on attitude of Handicap Committe - Congu generally 'discourage' such cuts.

If it was a shotgun then it wasn't only you who they held up it must of backed up all around the course.
43points was still a good score unlucky to lose on countback but well played.

Difficult one. Tough luck on getting a draw behind that four ball but I don't think you can blame them as you seemed to score well enough. It's hard to lose on countback. (been there this season) but take the positive. 43 points is good scoring.
