Groupon, what are your thoughts?

.........Myself, and a lot of other golfers who are club golfers, many that are single figures, buy vouchers from Groupon as a way of trying new courses. I have a voucher to use for Mentmore still and will buy through Groupon if i think its a decent deal.....

I've purchased a couple of these Groupon deals myself. I see it for me, a good way to try out other courses that I might not necessarily play. Courses that I may also go back to if I like them. As I put in a previous Groupon related thread, the benefit to the club may not come through the money on the Groupon deal, but through prospective new members, bar/ restaurant takings, marketing etc. It will likely benefit some clubs more than others, and some may not benefit at all. Essentially, I'm sure the club look at their options and gamble on the risk depending on their own needs and requirement.

I've got the Mentmore offer same as Fundy, as have two other friends of mine, meaning we can go play there three times for a very reasonable green fee. I've played both their courses a number of times and quite like them, but wouldn't trek out there on a regular basis. Looking at their website, they seem to have gone quite "public" with various offers available to non-members. I guess they are using the Groupon offer as a way to entice more feet through the door.
