Recently changed my grip on the advice of the club pro as old grip was gay.
Batted some balls down the range with my PW, 9,8 & 7 irons last night and did ok, however hit a couple with my old dodgy grip and these were the best of the night.
Plan to go back tonight, and do the same.
I presume hitting ball after ball with the new grip is the way forward. Any thoughts on how long the transition should take?

I changed my grip from baseball to interlocking not long after I started playing and it took the best part of a month or so before it really felt comfortable, and that was with hitting balls at the range 2-3 times a week. Its essential in the long run though, a bad grip will cause no end of problems.

what he said ;) with the caveat that it will feel completely normal in a week if you hit balls each day, a few balls every few days and it will take a month if not longer.

How long have you been playing previous to this lesson? Chances are over time you've created your own swing in order to get the ball to go where you want it to go. In doing so, there are any number of inconsistencies that counteract each other to allow you to return the clubhead somewhere near where it started. A few wrongs making a right. Correcting your grip is essential , its your only contact with the club, but in doing so the rest of the compensating errors in your swing are now out of sync, and chances are your tempo is too.

My advice would be stick with it and get a few more lessons, it'll be a while coming together but ultimately it will give you the improvement you're looking for.

I am also changing my grip after about 20 years. I am getting one of Deadbeaters training grips fitted to an old 7i, and will see how I get on with it. I figure it will take a few months to start feeling right, and get fully confident with it. Whether it will make any difference to my game, not so sure, but worth a go.

What is your grip like now it has been changed (How many knuckles on the left hand can you see now as opposed to your previous grip)?

P.S If you're a right handed player

I changed my grip last year from an interlocking to overlap grip, I get a better release now, and a more consistant strike. Took a few months to get used too, Playing 2-3 times a week.

This 'how many knuckles can you see' has never made any sense to me. Don't know why. This is why I want Deadbeaters grip thing. It will put my hands in the right place, without me thinking about it, or trying to count whether I can see 1/3 of a knuckle.

I did the opposite, changed from overlap to interlocking, took about a week to bed in. I found with interlocking that I had more control over the irons, never had an issue releasing the club. Each to their own I suppose.

i wouldve thought a gay grip would suit the whole look youve got going on there! lol

each to their own and that ;)

thanks! ;) Unfortunatly the facial hair has gone due to the wifes rash.

I've got the swing trainer that has the grip on it in large. Bought it years ago the trainer is pants best thing is the grip!!
