Im sure this may have been covered somewhere already but as i normally grip the clubs with the interlocking grip,
today i was kind of forced to use the Vardon grip as i suffer very bad with chilblains at this time of year my fingers become very sore and swollen to the point where its actually uncomfortable to hold the club. Also when i grip the club this way my small finger on the right sits where it should but my ring finger on my right seems to sit ontop of my index finger of my left. From lookin at pictures of this particular grip i think im doing this wrong but it feels very uncomfortable to put these fingers (index and ring) alongside each other.
I switched to it after 9 holes mainly because of my hands but also out of curiousity.
What transpired was my driving game and my woods became much much straighter and longer my usual fade was gone.
Also my irons became straighter but i seemed to be taking a much deeper divit than i normally do.
Should i keep playing with this grip and ingrain it. It feels a little unnatural to me?
Also whats the story with the deeper divots?

If its working for you stick with it. It will feel weird as its not what your muscles are used to but give it time and itll become second nature. The deeper divots might be caused by a steeper angle of attack which will be caused by the change of grip. Hope this helps.

Depends on how deep your divots are. If your still hitting it good with control then its good but if your ball position is bit off(forward or back) youll start shanking and digging to Australia ;)

Thats what was happening today Homer my woods were shallow no divots at all any of the divots i took seemed to be with 6 iron up.

I had to change to vardon after hitting my left index finger with a hammer in a FREAK accident :(

It was a bit uncomfy at first but you soon get used to it, you have to pick up a club and make your new grip as often as you can.

Point your right pinky out of the way, slide your right fingers up the grip so fingers meet with the left, then put your pinky back over the top into the groove behind your left index. Squeeze, release a few times until it starts to feel comfy. It literally might take a few months!, but having used both grips I think it's by far the better grip.

Grip is so individual. I'm a baseball grip hacker and I would not go back to interlock or vardon. Just so uncomfortable and un-natural for me as I have very little paws!

Not quite Jeremy Beadle small but small!

I played Vardon for years, couple of years ago started messing about with interlocking and liked it so stuck with it. Now when I try a Vardon it feels really weird.
Heard pros and cons for both but if interlocking is good enough for both Jack and Tiger, its good enough for me.

Re the changes in shot results the OP asked about, I dont think the swing has changed, its the release of the clubhead (or timing) which has improved fractionally for the better by the grip change, just by luck I would think. Timing comes and goes no matter what grip you're using.

Ya i think i might give it a go for a few months. Our season is starting next weekend so ill let everyone know the outcome...I think ill visit the range 2 nights next week and maybe a few hours sat morning of putting practice.

I used to use an interlocking grip when I was a kid, but when I came back to the game last year I started with a Vardon grip. I've no idea why I changed, I assume that as my hands are now bigger (and a lot fatter!) it felt more natural than the interlocking grip.

It now feels like I've never played any other way.
