I went up the course for a quick knock today.
It was difficult to get a feel for the club as I was wearing a few layers & my fingers were cold.
Anyway, as I warmed up I started to experiment with my grip, I started hitting shots with just enough grip to stop the club flying out of my hands, blimey!!! what a difference.
The ball contact was better & the shots were mostly straight, as I experimented further I found that even though I tried to grip lightly at address, my grip pressure automatically increased as I took the club back causing my forearm muscles to tighten, once I figured this out I started to deliberately loosen my grip as I took the club away & my shots improved as a result.
I wasn't there long enough today to play many holes, but I reckon it's something to work on for my next practice session.
