Greenpeace Climbing the Shard...NOW!

Course it was. Because you've been a bastion of centre left opinions recently haven't you? At least have the courage to admit to your opinions when called on them.

I presume advocating the shooting of people in front of their families is your idea of " banter ".

You are really working hard to earn the title of Forum Buffoon!

Perhaps you guys should check his video out!

@Bluewolf Are you accusing SR of Lying? That would be tantamount to calling a golfer a cheat? And rather offensive imo.

I'm fully aware of Clarksons comments thank you.

Oh, and i find it amusing that you find it offensive to intimate that someone may be backtracking but you seemingly have little issue with some of the recent Anti-English and Scottish posts. We all have priorities though don't we?

I dont backtrack. I assume that a comment made in jest would be taken as such but it seems that some are not able to assume this stance.

Regarding the Anti English/Scottish posts I have not perpetuated the demeaning of Scots, anything but. I am more saddened by the amount of anti English posting. I will have to exit from even defending myself as it will be suggested I am backtracking but you will of course take full advantage of this position.

You didn't answer my question! Didn't seem back-tracking to me. Just perhaps 'over your head'!

Oddly, I prefer to make my own mind up about what I find offensive. The Anti-English and (Anti-)Scottish diatribe seems insoluble on this Forum to me.

I'm presuming my bracketed clarification in bracket is correct. I wouldn't like your meaning to be 'Scottish and Anti-English!'

It's only insoluble because people accept it, strangely ironic on a thread about protest and "courage of convictions".

As regards what you find offensive, I believe my comment was squarely aimed.

Oh, and thank you for your correction. I was typing on my phone whilst walking the dog. The necessity for concise prose outweighed the requirement for perfect grammar. Also, my fingers aren't the smallest.

Perhaps I should rephrase my opinion. This forum is unlikely to solve the Anti-English/Anti Scottish attitudes because it's the wrong sort of environment.

And as a foreigner, it's not actually a 'problem' that is really important to me. It's interesting to observe that there is a distinct unity in the Anti attitude towards the English by the Scots, the Welsh, The Irish and the French (and maybe even The Cornish!) that is not directed at each other!:D

I think to wish anyone doing this harm is far worse than the potential delays the actions they take will cause.

they believe in something and feel this is best to raise awareness and its done just that so good on them being prepared to risk themselves for something they believe in. A lot can be learnt from having that sort of strength of courage to go with your convictions.

fair play to them and wish them a safe descent to.

So when similar people dig up the 18th green at Muirfield and ruin the Open next week, will you still be so supportive of their ideals?

I think Greenpeace are past their sell-by date and the protest is a stupid waste of public resources.

And to the smug, moral high ground seeking clique of leftist yoghurt knitters that have huddled together in a corner of the forum - I think you are showing the liberal left viewpoint in all it's natural and ugly glory. If I don't agree with you, I am evil or crazy? You just can't believe that anyone with half a brain can have an opinion that has validity if it sits outside the Guardian / BBC mantra??

At least that is what it looks like to me.

Wow! Great post.

Stop standing on the fence Snelly. Say what you mean! :D

Should make Greenpeace cover the costs

On this, we agree!

Could at least have taken a flag that would have been visible from Shell Centre couldn't they? I couldn't see the damn thing from London Bridge Station!

I believe the ladies applied a bit of commonsense and chose not to unfurl the piece of 'artwork' they were hoping to originally... And 'made do' with something a bit smaller...

In all seriousness now, would it just be Greenpeace that you would make cover the costs? Or would you make all protests liable for billing from the Government?

A tough one... As the vast majority of 'political' protests are in London its 'us' Londoners that end up footing the larger part of the bill... Most probably not 'cost effective' to pursue any payments...

On this one, that was illegal from the outset, then yes! I think the invoice might be ignored though!

On notified, legal protests, then no charge. Freedoms of Assembly, Association and Speech are basic Human rights!

But what happens if the law they are protesting against is unjust (allegedly). How about the young woman (Maya Evans) who was arrested for reading the names of all the British soldiers killed in Iraq since 2003, within a KM of Parliament.

I just hope that thier climbing gear was made from all natural products, such as hemp, and that it contained no chemicals (nor was made with chemicals) that harm the planet... now that would be naughty naughty... very naughty.

That's where I cede my authority to the (overall) Justice System.

There are plenty of instances where supposed unjust laws are deliberately breached to get a judgement.

Maya Evans was a simple 'arrest' though certainly an 'interesting' one! Again, the judiciary and the Justice Sysrathetem is normally pretty good at achieving justice imo, if somewhat slow (measured would be the positive spin)!
