Im writing this as i sit looking in 26 degree heat overlooking Sarinas Golf Course, Fuerteventura about to embark on a lovely journey back to sunny bimingham.
Me and HID decided we would have a bit of sun for my birthday this year and i managed to get away for a couple of rounds whilst away. When we all discussed our targets for the year mine weee to break 100 and play in a comp. i wish i could say this was a double whammy but due to blobing holes i was unable too. I linked up with the Correlejo Golf Society who fixed me up with cheaper green fees and a set of rusty callaways. Only catch was i had to join their stableford which they took quite seriously... Having never played stanlefird or any competition it was very daunting turning up on my own.
I managed 17 pts (im waiting for the what sbout the back 9 comments) but if im honest i was chuffed with that as i never finished last and it was so ridiculosly windy we had to use 3 woods on a 156 yrd hole.
The biggest disappointment of the day was how the bloke i went with stopped acknoledging me the second we left his car... I was rushed to the first tee and told i could buy balls there by the bloke who drove me there. It turns out i had to play a course with four balls with enough water to need a few more in the bag. My playing partners were great craic but were abit reluctant to lend me some so i had to blob a few by having no balls until we got close the the clubhouse and could buy more. I might now be told i should of been disqualified or penalised but to be honest it was my birthday and i just fancied a round in sunny spain - i didnt care if i was in a comp just didnt want to be paired up with 3 rude poles.
All in all i loved the day out and can tick off an achievement for this year finishing 3rd from bottom in a competition that came propably far too early.
A true highlight was a gent pointing out i had longest drive award when we got back to the clubhouse. It was over 310 yrds which if im honest never thought was possible for me.
Anyway a great week Of golf also picking up a 41 and 36 on the short par 9 hole on two seperate days. Looking forward to hopefully osting a broke 100 round soon.
Thanks for keeping me busy whilst waiting to fly home!
