I've had plenty of lessons but all with my irons. Today I decided to have one with the demo driver i've had in my bag for the past couple of weeks.

I've been hitting it pretty straight but only about 200yds, by the end of the lesson I was hitting it between 220-240yds, delighted.

The extra yards were given to me simply by working on keeping my weight on my right side through the swing with instant results. I then hit a few balls after with my 3 and 5 wood and they too have gained some distance.

Now that lesson was well worth the £15!

It's Cobras 08 Model, without going and getting it from the car I have no idea what the model is called. It has a massive head and makes a fair bit of noise.

The pro at my club needed to do a case study on a driver fitting. After hitting loads of different drivers on the launch monitor he has come up with a 12.5degree, regular shaft the has helped to my slice into a gentle fade. He has told me to keep it in the bag for month or so. Shot my best ever score (93) with it a few weeks back.

It sgreat when you start hitting good drives. Personally I think it adds confidence to your whole game as you aren't putting pressure on yourself to try and smoke one out there or steer one trying to avoid the trouble.

I am pleased to report that the R7 Limited generously donated by GM is on fire. Gun barrel straight and long (well for me at least). I'm off on Friday and may try and get a game in the roll up stableford and try it on the course.

Well thats the next step Homer, taking the range form on to the course and making the boig stick work when you know you have oob one side of the fairway and trouble at 180yds......

Thats a whole new ball game then. Heres hoping it all goes well on the course next weekend.

hapless, it's only in recent weeks it has become the strongest part... basically during this case study. .. before then I was struggling to make 180yds off any tee. The extra 20,30,40yds makes a huge difference.

But.... my next lesson is to be spent around the greens, thats where i think i could knock 10+ shots off a round. My pro thinks i'll be breaking 90 regularly by the summer, fingers crossed.

hapless, last summer i was ready to jack the game in mate, I wasn't enjoying it and the struggle to get below a 28 handicap looked to continue for a lifetime. I know its not major but i'm down to 26 now and the signs are good.

My main problem is that I was doing so many of the fundementals wrong for so long but thats behind me now and i'm confident i'll be playing off around 20 by the end of the summer.

I've decided to just enjoy the game for what it is and that helps.

Eagle, my lesson was at my club, Cromwell Golf Club. The pro is doing 4 x30min lessons for £50.

A good swing can hit any club....I'm sorry to 'pee on the strawberries' but I actually think to charge you £15 for that advice is...'daylight robbery'....a 'quick fix' is not the answer to improve your game long term...

Sorry for putting a downer on the thread but some realism is needed sometimes....

Anybody steve, they have some great deals mate and you can bank them as long as you like. They are also doing £5 for an hour on the range, unlimited balls, free tea and coffee with a coach walking up and down giving pointers for a fiver every tuesday and thursday but you have to book in.

I'm not sure if that one is just for members and not too sure how many pro's are there but as you know they dont have many bays so i think you'll get a bit of advice.

I can confirm that Minty is now hitting his Driver nicely after it took him some time to be convinced that he needed one, he almost outdrove me the other day.
I'm hoping that he can get his handicap down as I'm getting fed up with giving him 9 shots a round
