"Libby's Challenge" at Bearwood Lakes.
Big, annual charity day, which I have had the pleasure of partnering Paul Nash at over previous years. Came close to being in the frame three years ago, both played crap the year before last.
Didn't play in last years event due to other commitments but have made sure I'm free for the day today.
18 hole BB Stableford off 3/4's means Pauls off 11, I'm off 10. Nice meal this evening that gives the girls a chance to dress up, Sam has been out and has bought a new sparkly number, she'll look lovely.
The course should be in superb condition despite the rain we've had recently, and I'm looking forward to seeing the changes they've made this season, especially the "new" par 3 9th.
It would be great if we do well, but at the end of the day it's all about enjoying ourselves.
Weather looks good, dry day forecast with a gentle breeze to make it interesting.
Fingers crossed!

Nice one Smiff.....Hope you tear the course up.

Me....Im playing in our medal tomorrow....But as HiD's is away at a Hen party today im going to take our 2 smallies up to the course for 3 or 4 hours let them take their clubs and get them their dinner up there too....

So im babysitting and practicing at the same time. :whoo:

looking forward to it - weather is dull as dishwater and it rained yesterday evening - looks dry today but probably zero sun - but I will have Smiffy there to inspire and brighten up the mood!:cheers::D

I played a 36 hole scratch open today, guy in the group in front of me had a hole in one in the morning. Didn't offer to get the drinks in though

thanks Bob - fantastic day and very close to winning (43 points for third - 44 won) - will let the old fella do the big write up - he will be home late morning! Although I will have to add that Mick Miller was very funny - as Smiffy decided to sleep through it!!

I was in an impetuous mood - went in the pro shop and they offered me the new Cleveland retro-looking driver for £155 and the best price on the net was £199! Had to get it and it is awesome - Smiffy had to be restrained by Sam from buying some new Cleveland irons! Yet again I buy a club without having swung it!

Shot 6 over personally with one double and one birdie - last 36 holes I have not blobbed a hole or lost a ball and shot 14 over - that means the wheels will probably come off very soon!

Talking of holes in one, the group in front of us had one - the guy is a member and plays off 3 or 4 - I heard his bar bill was £1,200!!!!! Very generous and he won a custom-fit set of Nikes that he donated back to the auction and I think it raised about £500.

Rich, Smiffy and I won the silent auction for Remedy Oak 4-ball for £360!! we lost out on Princes and the Grove.

Just walked in the door, absolutely knackered from a great day/evening yesterday.
As Paul says, 44 points won it, two pairs came in with that score, relegating us to 3rd spot on 43 points. Paul played fantastically well, we just lost it between holes 4 and 6 where we bogied each one. Other than that it was pars all round. Glad I didn't succumb to those Cleveland irons....I couldn't hit the buggers I had yesterday properly, so "tour" models wouldn't have helped me at all.
We tee'd off at the 17th as it was a shotgun start, and we started par, par, birdie, par, par, then the bogies started at 4, 5, 6 & 7. Then Paul went par, par, par, I parred 11, Paul continued with pars at 12 and we both parred 13. Another par at 14, and we got to the 15th knowing we were in with a shout. Long par 4, I hit a lovely drive up there into the wind, still 200 out so collared my 5 wood off the fairway and came up about 10 feet short of the green on the upslope. Decided to give the flat stick a bash from there, left the first putt about 5 feet short but missed the next for a bogie 5 for 2 points. I was kicking myself because a 4 up there would have been great going. Paul then parred the par 5 16th and we totted up the score to make it 43. Paul had said before we started that we needed to try to get 44 points to be in with a shout, which is exactly how it turned out. Had I made par up 15 I reckon we would have won it because we would have had a 23 point back 9. Never mind. A great day, in great company....and yes, I felll asleep during the comedians routine. I had watched him on YouTube yesterday morning and he just repeated the jokes that he had said on there!
Thanks for inviting me again Paul

Paul, if you want to play the Grove, most cost effective way is to enter the Back on Black competitions they run one Sunday each month during the summer. £125 and you get a goodie bag. I'm playing in the July one.

Details are on the website
