Gps watch v laser rangefinder

Currently use a GPS watch. garmin s2.

Working a lot on my 30 to 120 yard short game, I might get a laser to help me with accuracy, as some large greens a flag can be 20 yards apart when it is designated middle on some greens.

I use a Laser Rangefinder - Not out of preference really - its just what I fancied.
They both have there merits! On Par 3s especially.

But it also helps in course mapping as well - distance to bunkers, trees etc Where-as a watch is tee to green.

To be honest at my home course the more I use it the more I don't need because then I know the distances.

Robbo I've seen you play you surely don't have many blind shots at ours? From thinking- the 6th if you pull it left, the 8th if down after the path(probably), the 12th definitely no matter what, the 14th if too far back and that's it? so 3 avoidable and 1 definite :D
I must have played you on a good day! :D ;)
Don't forget the 5th from pretty much anywhere from your drive, 14th to the burn (no laser can help you there), 15th with a duff drive/back tee.
Believe me, if there's a blind spot on our course, I'll have found it! :o

I originally had a gps and then got a laser, I dropped the GPS an broke the screen but haven't replaced it as I prefer the laser now.

I wear a GPS watch and carry a laser rangefinder. At our course there are a few spots from where you can't see the green or the flag, so the GPS is the best way of estimating distance. I tend to use the rangefinder from about 150 yards in, when I am usually accurate enough to get somewhere near the hole. At longer ranges I am happy enough to just get on the green or somewhere near it. :)

Just played in very misty conditions and laser range finder useless .
would not pick up flag.

That is another situation when a GPS watch is useful. This was discussed in another thread a few weeks ago. The laser beam has to make a two-way journey back to the rangefinder, so in misty conditions, even if you can clearly see the flag, the rangefinder may not work.

Fog mode sounds useful, i am hoping you have bad weather soon to see if it works..:D

I couldnt get it to work in the fog other day (but then I tried about once.. gave up and just used the GPS)

This rangefinder that Homer and I purchased though I cant speak highly enough of. it easy to use.. compact. sits nicely on the trolley (got a little case for it off ebay, protects it more than the one they sent / holds it better to the trolley) im out with my mate who has a bushnell this week might pit them against each other.. however im told from many reviews (customer reviews) that they give the same results. amazing considering this one is about a 3rd of the cost!

I have had an apple watch for about 2 years now before that I always used golf shot GPS on my phone. now its on my watch so just quickly have a look before playing the shot. However with this range finder when I am 100 yards and under I get the laser out.. spy the flag and because of the work I have been doing down the range I am much more accurate at finding a shot that will give me a good chance of an up and down.

A combination of hard work and this laser have really improved my game.. rather than thinning a wedge over the back and having to play back onto the green I now land those approaches on the green. In theory I can save a shot a hole now. ofc this is only in theory
