Good Song/ Bad Singer

anything performed live by the stone roses.... hoping next Friday's concert will be better than spike island but i doubt Ian Brown has improved that much in the last 20 odd years so not holding my breath

Got a good few friends going to see them on this tour, unfortunately I'm away on hols.

Was told that Ian Brown made some ridiculous statement a few years ago about how himself and John were essentially the only good ones in the Stone Roses and t'others were replaceable. To me, the bass and drums in SR are what holds it together. Also, I hope they play 'Breaking Into Heaven' for you, by far their best song and one of my all time faves.

Is the song called Leonard?:D

touché ;)

They were actually pretty good at Heaton park both times I saw them. They were definitely a lot tighter than the last time I saw them at Spike Island. Ian Brown has calmed down and can just about manage to hold a note for a few seconds. Squiresy and Mani have got tighter. Reni is still awesome as well...

I went to ally pally which was alright, but i think they were more interested in other things than playing that night, a great band but terrible live.

my mate went to spike island and said he could hardly hear a thing with the pa setup.

My shout on this would be Video Games by Lana Del Rey. Think it's a brilliantly written song which could potentially have received more credit if sung originally by someone else.

I seem to remember Kasabian did a cover of it in the Radio 1 live lounge. And it was awful, nowhere near as good as Lana Del Rey. ;)

Eternal Flame, written by Prince, sung by Susanna Hoffs in the nude (apparently)

So good song, bad original singer, much better singer, much better very alluring singer - what's not to like ?

Tell a lie, wasn't Prince, but good story anyway

You're thinking of Manic Monday. But the story about the producer getting Sussana Hoffs to sing Eternal Flame in the buff is allegedly true. Well as true as anything can be nowadays.

Any cover version of 'cold as ice'. Nothing can improve on Lou Gramm.

Snelly I agree with you on most golf matters, but Neil Young.
'
Manfred Mann's Earth Band with Chris Thompson do some great versions of Dylan, Springsteen songs. 'I came for you' one of my favourites.
