Good honest review of M1/R15

Why not?!

My host at The Shire is in the fortunate position of being able to swing at 110 and still be 'in control' - though he can't get over 112 whatever he does. Yet his recent initial speed at a gapping was a wimpy (for him) 92! The (highly reputed) coach tore into him about it, pointing out just how much of a waste not using his potential swing speed was! The cause of the drop was fear of the huge hook, so eliminating that is actually what they will work on.

For myself, if I swing just about 'out of my shoes' I tend to swing pretty well, though still less than his 'girly' speed! If that isn't on on any particular day (my miss is normally too high on the face), then the 'easy' swing is only a few mph less and very reliable!

If I need the distance I will swing as fast as I can while trying to maintain control but it obviously can cause you issues. I have looked into it a bit more and found advice that says swinging slower gives more time for things to go wrong and can cause you to over think things so it may be that I go at it with everything coming into the season and see how it goes. I am however quite lucky that my swing does make the ball go a long way so maybe the extra few yards won't matter all of the time.

Point being, the M1 was amazing but it was really the faster swing making the difference, not the club!

It's the "is it easy to hit...........YES" that appeals to me. And I'd expect a few extra yards over my SLDR which, even cranked up still flies lower than I'd like.

It is definitely a great driver and if I wanted a new one it would take some beating. But I'll be sticking with my SLDR for the near future. Also it was a wedding present from my wife so has some sentimental value.

*the whole point of the m1 is that it is aero dynamic, allowing faster swing speeds.
Thats is what it is designed to do - make you swing faster, and hence greater distance.
word is it is outselling all other manufacturers drivers, and by some distance too.
everyone who has one says it's the dogs.

More Aero dynamic sorry mate but do you honestly believe that.

What happened to the Ping driver that had wings things or whatever they were called a bloody fad that lasted 2 minutes.

Even if it was slightly more areo dynamic than other drivers do we really believe it would be so much it would make a massive difference.

Buy one because it looks nice or its nice to have new shineys but to buy something based on word marketing is plain crazy.

These marketers are working on the next load of crap as I write.

I'm with you on this, I just don't understand all this increasing swing speed crap. I worked on decreasing swing speed to improve my accuracy and control. If I want to increase my swing speed I'll just use my old swing that would be up around 112-115 MPH.

To me it just seems that the manafacturers are trying to get the head going quicker with longer shafts and more aerodynamic heads. To me all this leads to is a decrease in accuracy and consistency.

I have one. Its not the dogs.

The only thing it has on my sldr is its slightly better out of the toe. Thats it. Still very happy with it though

Of course it'll affect accuracy and then at some point they'll change tack again and make the longest, most accurate one on the market and people will lap it up in their droves

All the oem's airo test their driver heads. People are swinging them faster as the stock product is lighter.

The carbon crown is not nessasaraly the reason as the weight the gained there is spent with the additional track in the sole.

Good bit of kit though!

It still comes down to a lot of players still believing hitting it further off the tee will lower their scores. I taught myself to hit it shorter and that dropped my scores.
