After a round of two of hacking a year for last few years i picked up the game pretty seriously last summer and joined local club. Taken lessons recently and feel everythings coming together nicely.
So, we had dinner for winter league on friday night and decided to squeeze nine holes in before it.
Played out of my skin. parred the first 7 holes with 5 GIR and even missed a 5 footer for birdie on one. Nerves got better of me a little and leaked the drive left on the 8th and had to chip out and ended with 2 putt bogey. 9th is driveable par 4 and have birdied it few times recently. Unfortunatley not this time
drive into the greenside bunker pitched out to 10 feet and missed the putt. All in all so plaeased with finishing +1. By far my best score for nine holes (27 points!!)
Was over the moon going into the clubhouse for the dinner til i quickly realised that me and my friend were the only ones not in jacket and tie. It was our first winter league dinner and the emaill about it didnt mention dresscode. Didnt even think to ask as had been to a few evening presentations already and people were even wearing jeans at them!!!! To make things worse i won a prize and when walking up to get it 60 odd guys started singing "wheres your tie, wheres your tie....". Love the hypocricy of golf where trousers and shirt = bad, singing like at a football match = ok lol....
Even had the president of the club up giving me abuse after he had a few drinks in him "Just wondering if you were ignorant to the dresscode or whether you just dont care about the history of the club"
Dream to nightmare in a few hrs!!!! Live and learn
