Golf Weekend - what do you want most from a hotel/golf course?

Decent course, decent bed, decent breakfast. Not too fussed about the hotel to be honest, I'll stay in B&B locally as long as the breakfast is top notch.
But for me it's the golf course. You could have the best hotel and food in the world but if the course is a goat track I won't enjoy my week-end away.

You won't be taking Mrs Smiffy to the Avisford Park Hilton then....

I will never go back to that goat track again. I put a review of the place on GolfUK Guide...something along the lines of windmills, rickity rackety bridges and such like.

I organise 2 events a year for between 30 & 40 lads. 1st of all I look at location, then the quality of the hotel along with the price and what deals they offer me for such a large number. As long as the course is decent then thats fine. We always like a good drink and a decent meal so these areas are important. If somewhere gives us a decent services then we'll return but if the service and quality of the food is poor then we won't return no matter how cheap. I've found that the De Vere chain offer some great deals.

It has to be a decent course to start with. After that its price, food (good wholesome grub and not anything too pretentious) a decent hotel (bar and a nice en suite room). From there I want a good range to warm up (do they open at 4.00am) and a nice welcome with a decentl changing facility. Some courses you go to and you're looked at like some kind of illegal and treated pretty much the same. Give me a good old fashioned friendly pro and steward and it can make up for a lot
