looking for a few suggestions for a golf weekend in Scotland during the summer.
We would be a group of around 20 looking to play 36 holes on a Saturday with overnight accommodation.
I get a lot of members courses might not entertain us so where’s best to look?
Open to ideas

It's a big old place. Do you want to narrow the area down a little? East coast, west, central belt, up to Aberdeen etc. Do you want links or happy with parkland, heathland?

Equally, what sort of pricing? The answer to your question is Gleneagles, that would be perfect. It's not cheap though, so we need an idea of budget.

Anywhere really, most of the group live in the central belt.
We’ve done a few of these before but just looking for different suggestions
Ideally coming in at around £300 per person for 2 nights and 2 rounds

I've just come back from 3 nights in East Lothian, booked it all separately:

Air Bnb just outside Haddington - £440 between 3 of us, it was on a farm and they had other bigger accommodation which might be able to hold a few more.

Courses we played:

Gullane number 3 - £60
Craigelaw - £88
Longniddry - £85
Dunbar - £150 (on a Sunday morning), probably pushes it way out of budget but the point is you can get on good courses on a weekend.

As you'll say, members courses will be a non starter on a Saturday.

St Andrews has a couple of good options, Fairmont Hotel has 2 courses so you could play a round on each, or the Dukes Course (owned by Old Course Hotel) is an excellent parkland where you could play 2 rounds.

Worth a look at Golfbreaks or Your Golf Travel.....just punch in your dates and requirements and it'll give you some options. Or even give them a ring. Saves you doing any work!!

Not a perfect option, but play The Roxburghe, stay in Kelso, then play The Hirsel, Coldstream. You are not staying at the golf course, hotel is scary expensive, but you can play there on a Saturday.

Quality course, just a suggestion

You could try down Kintyre with 3 excellent courses within 15 minutes of each other (Machrihanish, Machrihanish Dunes & Dunaverty) I know Machrihanish Dunes used to do a play & stay deal but not sure if it is still on offer.

Thanks for the replies.
Gives us a few things to look into.
A few of those we’ve played before and they work well.
The thing is, it’s just getting more expensive to do these trips and harder to find a fit that works for everyone.

The courses around Stranraer are all decent and not too expensive.
The big hotel at Portpatrick is also a good place to stay with special golfers deals. Offers good value for money.
