Golf trips

I had my sticks with me when I went to Vegas but refused to pay the $250+ that most courses were asking. I was on a multi centre holiday and had just flown in from a week in Orlando where I played a few rounds so wasn't too fussed. Some of the bigger courses are asking ridiculous money, I've seen some quotes of $500 a round

If that's the sort of money they're asking, then I won't be able to justify that. I'll just add what I would be 'happy' to pay for a round to my poker kitty.

Are there any courses in the local area that are just too good to pass up the opportunity to hack my way round though? ;)

Also D4S, just noticed your location. I'm a North Dorset boy when i'm at home, I know there's a couple of others on here too. Maybe we can sort something out for July/August if you fancy?

TOMORROW TOMORROW TOMORROW I am off to St Andrews to play the Eden, Castle, Old & Kingsbarns. Four rounds Four days, heaven here I come, golf can be good or bad I just dont care, I cant wait. TOMORROW TOMORROW TOMORROW!! Do I sound excited, cos yes I am.

Who's a lucky boy then hope the rain holds off and you have a fab trip. Enjoy!!

Boys trip to Le Touquet and Hardelot at the end of June. Looking for a relatively cheap trip elsewhere later in the summer to take mrs wedge and young pitchin. Looking at Turkey at the moment, some good looking hotels there with golf all in, need to check that they'll let the boy play.

I am heading to Las Vegas early June and staying at the Bellagio for 5 days then 7 days in Orlando. Try Golfnow.com for golf while you are staying in the US.

That website is absolutely quality, thanks very much bogside.

What courses are you thinking about? I can't get any info for tee-times at TPC LV, but that'll be worth a look. Desert Pines looks the business as well.

I hope you have a great time mate.
I'm off to Jerez on Friday for a week. We're playing every day and the temperature today is going to hit 40ºC.................I don't know how much water I can carry, but I'll need plenty!

Well you have a great time too, I bet well have more than enough water (rain). 40C is hot, take care and enjoy the golf. Any sherry trips planned?

Off to Spain in a couple of weeks to play Montecastillo.........great golf course, plenty of sun and a few cold beers!

Played there last year, lovely course, love some of the tee shots off the elevations! Stayed in a villa which was lovely... oh, to be in Spain!

Only downfall was the need for a hire car to get anywhere as it's a bit rural, and they could have done with topping up the water urns a bit more often, I was up to 1ltr per hole I reckon :p

Early flight to Portugal tomorrow and tee time booked at La Penina Championship Course at 12.58 so hope the flight is on time.

Can't wait! 7 rounds booked

Family holiday in July with another couple, going to Madeira & taking the clubs. A couple of fabulous course there.
Blackmoor in October, but you already know about that one.

Slime.

Played Montecastillo in October last year and it was in fantastic condition and a great course. Stayed at the Barcello hotel and again, it was fantastic. Hope you enjoy it as much as we all did.

For this year, trip to La Manga booked for September and then Villamoura in October for a mate's 30th Birthday. Should be good, sadly the cost of these two combined means my other outings this year will be somewhat restricted.

Ayrshire - golf's own country (I hope) in the last week in May.

It is definitely golf's own country.
We had 5 days up there last week and it is absolutely superb.

Played Powfoot on the way up on Sunday, Kilmarnock Barassie on Monday, Turnberry Ailsa on Tuesday :whoo:, Prestwick St. Nicholas on Wednesday and finished off at Irvine on Thursday.

Turnberry was obviously the highlight but all the others are excellent courses in their own right.
In fact, the greens at Irvine were the fastes we played on all week.
I'd go again in a heartbeat as there's still a load more top quality courses to go at.
Maybe next year.

East Sussex National end of June (5 days). 16 of us. Playing:

Nevill
Crowborough Beacon
Cooden Beach
Chartham Park
East Sussex West to finish things off

Slim chance we'll be experiencing some decent weather by then.
