2026 golf trips

Unfortunately golf trips like everything has gone up price wise significantly.
If you are not prepared to pay top dollar to guarantee top courses then you are taking a bit of a gamble.

It’s a case of hoping to find a hidden gem but if you have a decent group they understand and in truth it’s the people you are spending your time with that make the trip.
I think we had the same deal and paid £99.00 each might have been a Sunday driver as we did a lot of these
 
Expensive busy year for me!

March - 7 nights, 4 rounds at Cullinan links, Belek for a friend’s 40th

May - Gateway to Wales - 2 nights, 3 rounds at different courses in northish wales. A pairs thing over the 3 rounds, played it a couple of years ago, it’s a decent trip.

October - 4 nights, 3 rounds at la Cala for a friends 50th.

Also have 2 more weekends to get booked in at some point, annual trips with the same chaps as usual, likely to be north wales area again.

I need some help, our Saturday round isn't until 15.30, none of the other St Andrews courses let you book this far in advance, is there anywhere else I should be considering for a round in the morning and will let me book?

The Old Course? Enter the ballot and keep your fingers crossed.

Outside St Andrews I have played Leven, Lundin, Crail, Elie. They are all classic links courses and great fun. The only problem is that they are members clubs and you might find it tricky to get a game on a Saturday morning. Your best chance is probably going to be resort courses like Kingsbarns, Dumbarnie etc which will be pricey.

I'm finding them all pretty pricey, guess that's the tax of being near St Andrews I guess. I'll check those suggested, ta.

Looked it up....Craigtoun is the new name.

It's a 18 hole course, fantastic inland course with great warm up facilities and clubhouse. It was previously owned by the Old Course Hotel but I imagine it will improve even further with the Links Trust taking it on.

I've played all of those on numerous occasions.

Blackwell is the old Stressholme Municipal, which was operated by Darlington Council. Blackwell GC played out of the Blackwell Grange Hotel but took the opportunity to take over the muni.

It was an ok, blandish course and while I haven't played it since Blackwell took it over I understand that they have invested a small fortune into it and improved it considerably.

South Moor and Beamish are both very good courses that I would happily play at any time, Both hilly in parts, with South Moor quite exposed on the top and can be brutal on a windy day.

Brancepeth is quite simply, in my opinion, the best course in the region. The fun starts on the second and just keeps on coming all the way to the 18th.
 
Feels like a good place to post this. We’ve been looking at a couple trip ideas recently was originally going to look at Scotland and St Andrews to see what the hype is about at start of May but we’ll be in Rome now.

So been looking for a relatively budget friendly option for 3/4 days mid June. Just myself and Mrs M. Seen some good deals today for France in Le Touquet it includes 1 round at each of:

La Mer
Golf Du Touquet
Belle Dunes.

Also includes the option of 9holes at Le Touquet Manoir on day of arrival for just a few quid extra. Has anyone done that region/those courses before as I’m quite interested in pulling the trigger on it.

Yes been there a few times. Le Touquet is quite a cute place with lots of restaurants and a seafront. Courses that you mention are good, Hardelot which is close by also has two good courses. Easy to get to through the tunnel, nice introduction to French golf which is great, varied and reasonably priced.
 
Moray Open for me in July. 5 guaranteed rounds...£170. Usually try to squeeze in another round somewhere close by if I dont make it through the matchplay stages of the event.

Missus and daughter are away in Tunisia for a week in early May...might see if I can sort a two night trip and play a couple of rounds somewhere whilst they are away.

Is that 2 courses, or are you planning on playing several different courses at Le Touquet? There are 3 courses:
1. La Mer: proper top 100 championship links course, designed by Harry Colt, some classic holes through the dunes, especially on the back 9. There were some challenging carries from the men's tees, so might be a bit tough for a beginner - check where the forward tees are.
2. La Foret: much easier test, not a championship quality layout but a pleasant parkland routing through the forest.
3. Le Manoir: 9 hole layout alongside La Foret. Not played it but supposed to be ideal for beginners.

Belle Dune is ok. It only has a few holes in the dunes, the rest play through wetland / parkland and aren't very inspiring.

Hardelot is nearby and has 2 courses. Les Pins plays through a pine forest and has a classic Surrey heathland feel, it's a lovely tranquil spot. I've not played the second course there (Les Dunes). Hardelot is near Boulogne so you drive past it on the way from the tunnel to Le Touquet.

Deal I saw was rounds on La Mer, La Foret and Belle Dunes with an optional extra of 9 holes of Le Manoir.
