I'm going to need a travel bag so I can ship my clubs back to Ireland from uni. I'm not very comfortable bringing them on a plane so need something that is durable and will protect them.

Any of you have experience of this? What would you recommend?

You'll be fine, any reputable club carrier will be fine and get yourself a roll of bubble wrap to pack the heads up. I use an Ogio soft one which I bough mt a few years ago and it's seen 5 long hauls to the US without incident so far.

The John Letters versions sold be Direct Golf look good quality for the money.

If you do use a soft one, as I do, you can get an inflatable top cover for the bag that secures them and protects them, and buy a broom handle; cut it a couple of inches longer than your driver and stick it in the middle of your bag. If the baggage handlers drop it on the head end, that should take the brunt rather than your graphite shafts.

Alternative to the broom handle is this if you travel often enough;

The inflatable cover is an Izzo Protectair if you want to Google it or search any auction sites.

You could always get the ferry and take you clubs in your stand bag ;)

Problem is I'm in Leeds with my clubs, clothes, laptop all that crap to bring back with me and I've got no way of getting to Liverpool/Holyhead other than a train which isn't really an option

Just be careful some airlines charge extra for over 15kgs and its not cheap read small print.

I've checked and Flybe will let me bring it back as long as it's under 20kg my current bag is 9.5kg so I can get a travel bag, that John Letters one is 1.1kg so that gives me some extra space to put other stuff into the bag to fill it up and keep the clubs safe.

That broomstick idea is genius as well thanks blueinmunich
