…it does happen you know…in an ANWA way…
Loads of girls in our Junior Section and Academy these days…all looking to emulate their homegrown heroine. The impact on our junior golf (and the club as a whole) has been huge.
Good things going on at the club at the moment.
Impact on the club evident from our new external/visitor facing website just launched yesterday. Much less cluttered than before with ‘upfront’ photos really showcasing the course.
Build of our new 2nd hole is almost finished…pretty much to plan, and we’ve not heard of there being any issues or scope changes impacting cost…and it looks tremendous…IMO a big improvement over our existing 2nd. Plan is for the new hole to come into play for next year’s spring comps…being possible given the fairways pretty much exists already with only the green and it’s approach plus fairway perimeter mounding and bunkering requiring turfing or seeding for new growth.
Plus we have bought thousands of lovely shiny new range balls and got rid of all our old knackered ones. So popular is our range with members and visitors that we’ve had to apply a limit to the number of free balls a member can use in a day (75). Additional 25s cost a couple of £.

A PP boomed his drive on the 4th today, he had about 100 yards to clear the pond in front. Shanked his three wood into a pond at the side of him. He placed another and promptly dropped it into the pond in front. His head had gone effin and jeffin. He then placed a third ball down 20 yards in front of the pond and hit his three wood. He once more topped it and it hit the top of the water and it was like watching dambusters. It skipped the water twice and flew up the fairway. The language was unreal. Me and a PP had tears rolling down our cheeks laughing

i had a old wedge in the back garden that i used to just chip a few balls when id go out to the bins. he started to pick that up and hit them like playing hockey

Got our annual charity match this afternoon between the 2 main winter societies. Over 100 players playing 4bbb match play. Both sides have ‘guests’ playing, including the pro shop, greens staff and the odd friend or relative to make up the numbers. There is a raffle, auction and music afterwards all to raise money for the Gurkha Welfare Fund (we have a number of ex and serving Gurkhas in our group. Lovely weather today and should be a great day.

As it for the Gurkhas I hope they’re bringing MoMo’s for everyone to feast on. Absolute food of the gods, they’re unreal and full of flavour. Myself and 3 other lads once got through 90 of them in an hour.
We felt mighty sick after but it was so worth it.
Sounds like a great day and a very worthy charity hope you have fun mate.
