Golf Things That Gladden The Heart

I could have played today but decided not to when a PP asked if I was going to the course for a coffee. He is the guy who has been diagnosed with Prostate cancer. Me, my younger brother and the guy had a real open man to man talk about all things men go through. Me brother even opened up about some things he went through when he was in the “ Bilsthorpe mining disaster”. Google it.
Suffice to say it was deep. after about 40 mins, 4 lads who had gone out for 9 holes then said sod it coz of the weather n came into the 19th. It then went up a level. God how we laughed and talked. The guy who has just been diagnosed with Prostate cancer had a good 20 mins talking to a guy who had his Prostate out 7 years ago. He was explaining how it has affected his ability to get an erection. But he can then driving along and all of a sudden he is standing proud. We were crying with laughter.
As it happens the guy who has been diagnosed with PC. The people he has been dealing with in the hospital is people who Missis Tash worked with.
The things we all talked about were refreshing and it was good to see the lads get a lot off there chests.
 
Playing 9 holes this morning and finishing with a heel that isn't making me double up in pain with every step....
The difference is that I used my trolley for the 2nd time this year......
I can still feel the inflammation but it's more uncomfortable than what it normally feels like - stepping on a red hot piece of Lego wrapped in barbed wire....
Those who have experienced Plantar fasciitis will know what I mean....
Just need the rain to ease a d no more trolley bans.......
 
Played yesterday for the first time in a couple of months and struck the ball really well. Driving was great, long and with a baby draw. Irons and fairways good as well. Almost as if I know what I'm doing.

I had a stellar Trackman session earlier this afternoon where I'd seemingly put 15 yards carry on my drives and 10 yards on most of the irons.

However I was was just lamenting in the Golf Random Irritations thread about how, after signing out from the session, some 4 hours later the data hadn't appeared in my trackman account (usually its there in about 10-15 minutes) and was almost certainly lost. I've had issues in the past with data going missing after glitches in the Trackman system so thought it was another of those occurrences. Was somewhat pee'd off.

However, after a speculative swipe down just as I was typing, the latest session has now arrived. Happy days. I can now look and see what was happening differently to previous sessions. Will report back later in my Old Man Yardages thread.
 
Comp on Sunday with a couple of mates. One of them was having a terrible round but, after hitting his drive on our thirteenth, he managed to catch his tee in mid air! Made the stroke, tee popped straight up, he just stuck out his right hand a caught it. The only thing that made it slightly less cool was the shout of 'fore right' that followed. :LOL:

Where I used to play had a pro comp on and a load of range balls we’re delivered.
They were all pro v1s but had practice stamped on them.
For the next 3 months that’s all anyone played with and found loads of them on the course.
My mate bought our group a load of stamps to put on them so I was playing a prov 1 with practice on one side and 3 stamps of Giraffes on them all 🤣

Lol, we had a jolly a few years ago at Renaissance we stayed there and played it while having our annual matches with Gullane and Muirfield. the practice ground and the couple of chipping areas had piles of brand new prov1s. well they did :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
 
Our 9 hole course was finally deemed dry enough to play yesterday.

I can go back to playing just a few up to nine holes to get back in to the game. A full 9 holes today but feeling it a bit at the end.

Today you could really see what a clean up job the green staff have to get it back in to shape.
 
The excavators and various other heavy earth-moving equipment have started work creating the approach, mounding and green for our rerouted 2nd hole...the whining, moaning and any efforts to stop it might as well now desist...though I am pretty certain that they won't :rolleyes:
