Golf Things That Gladden The Heart

Gladden the heart…or just the wonder of it. I dunno.

Lottie Woad home for Christmas and at the club practicing today. As I stood on our 3rd tee beside our practice chipping ground she’d been practicing for, I guess, at least an hour. An hour after we finished our 4hr round she was on the putting green in the near darkness. I guess that’s just the name of the game at the very top.

A mate at the club gave me his copy of the Golf Monthly with the report on this years H4H. I suggested (maybe not too seriously) that I could cut out the photo of me being presented with the winners trophy and frame it. Her response was disappointing but not unexpected 🤣🙄

What a coincidence that you should mention that article. I read it literally an hour ago, looked at the trophy presentation pic and wondered if I "knew" the winner by a different name. Congratulations!

Mrs S was talking yesterday with a client about both having golfing daughters. Mrs S just happens to mention that ours is outgrowing her clubs.

Today he turns up carrying a nice set of irons that his (older than ours) daughter has moved on from and insists we take it. Looks just right for her. Absolutely refuses to take any form of payment - saying that he just wants to see girls encouraged to keep playing golf as they’re still so underrepresented at junior level.

Will try and pass the thought forward instead and make sure her outgrown clubs do exactly the same!

What size are they? Was thinking of getting some for my daughter's 3rd birthday this month. 😁

Absolutely 100% do it. When you're both a few years older then your own tastes and interests may not overlap all that much with a typical 10-18 yr old girl ( ), but if she likes golf then you'll still have something fun you can do together and both enjoy. It may or may not work (I have 2 daughters and one took to it and the other didn't, so have a 50% golf-brainwashing success rate) - but worth a go!
I'm afraid these clubs are probably suitable for a 9-12 yr old!
Work colleague's daughter is getting into golf and been consistently enthusiastic for a few months so looks like they will find a nice home where they do get used :)
