Golf Things That Gladden The Heart

As its mildly moist in Joburg Sky are showing the RC highlights and I've just seen Rosie walking that putt in again......
Utter perfection

Played solo today, expecting 4.5hr round due to all the 4 balls on jam packed course
1st tee rain started, not quite biblical but noah on standby for front nine
Ppl retreating to club house en masse leaving mostly clear course and the two other groups of die hards let me through in seconds

Such an enjoyable round even in the rain

18 done in a smidge under 2hours
Terrible scores on front nine that i haven't even counted up yet but reset on 10th tee and played a much better coming home in 1 under handicap for 2nd nine

Absolutely drowned with no waterproof gear and just polo shirt and shorts but didn't dampen the spirits

Did you have a buggy, or were you running between shots? 🤣

Christmas party for the grandchildren at the club today. Face painting, dancing, magician and a selection box off Santa to round it off. All of the kids loved it.

Me? Four hours of mayhem and wild screaming, I just had to suck it up.

I could have just as easily put this in Golf Random Irritations 😁

Despite being flat and generously supplied with trees, there's a bit on my course where you get a good view of nearly the full length of the first 6 holes all at once.
When I was round that spot today, I realised that every single group on all of these holes involved a youngster or two; one group playing by themselves, some playing with Dad, some with Mum and some with Grandad (at a best guess). Great to see - who says they're all welded to Playstations! :)

Gladden the heart…or just the wonder of it. I dunno.

Lottie Woad home for Christmas and at the club practicing today. As I stood on our 3rd tee beside our practice chipping ground she’d been practicing for, I guess, at least an hour. An hour after we finished our 4hr round she was on the putting green in the near darkness. I guess that’s just the name of the game at the very top.

End of the day it’s her job! So putting in say 5-6hrs of practice is no different from someone doing their working day and I’d expect that from a top level player.

I find it more impressive when Am’s do it whilst holding down full time jobs or education because they’re having to fit it in around normal life. BTW not taking anything away from her it’s good she’s putting in the work and hopefully does even better next year and fantastic you are up close seeing it in person.

You are spot on with that 👍
