Our club had a cross country event today. The highlight was the 800-yard par-9 hole that combined two long par 4s, 17 and 18, separated by a massive row of tall trees. Go over them, try to chip on to the 18th tee and play from there? Tons of fun and the first time I've ever been putting for an albatross

Really useful lesson this morning. Little tweak to position of thumb of right hand (coach - "I never said you could just let it flap around like that!”). But main things worked on was my take-away arc and allowing clubface to remain square to that arc. I had my take-away wrong (my thinking about it was sooo wrong) and was keeping the clubface square to the line of the incorrect arc - so I was compounding an already significant issue.
Spent some time on patio afterwards watching Lottie (Woad) work on her putting routine - boy is she fastidious - with much of what she was doing being focussed on ensuring that her address position and posture were correct and relaxed, and fully correlated with the line of the putt she wanted to hit. Had also watched her on the range for a bit before and after my lesson - blimey can that lass hit a ball. But again - taking loads of time on her procedure for each shot - then measuring and checking each time.

My friend is playing 100 holes today for Prostate Cancer, doing a lot of it by himself so I joined him for the first round this morning. 4.30am tee time, beautiful sunrise, nice temperature, dew on the greens making lines from our putts - everything about it was bliss.
It's going to be one hell of a slog for him today though once that heat kicks in!

Yeah, he couldn't have picked a worse day in some respects - 30° later! I can only imagine how much water he'll be needing to drink. Good luck to him.

He's walked around 35 miles in 15 hours, in 30 degree heat and raised nearly 2k for charity. Some people run for charity, some people swim, cycle, etc, they're all still doing something for a worthy cause.The hardship of golf on a sunny day. First world problems

The tweaks that my coach identified for me yesterday, and that worked immediately yesterday…on the range…well…by myself on the range trying to do same…and again…they worked.

Rumour has it that there were no buttons for a 12 or an 11, so he put 2 and 1 instead. Quality golf all round.
