Don't go left!
Or right, or long...Don't go left!
How long is it? Is it a par 3?Or right, or long...
My mate sent me that earlier - 5 mins before he carved on left in to the sea.
Par 3, plays about 145 to a green that slopes right to left. Perfect little par 3 in my book. How long is it? Is it a par 3?
Yeah that sounds good to me. Nice little 8 iron in. I don't usually hook an 8 iron enough to go in the ocean there - but not impossible.Par 3, plays about 145 to a green that slopes right to left. Perfect little par 3 in my book.
The challenge isn't the hooking an 8... it's your old friend - the wind. You're playing from quite high up on and exposed coast so even when it feels calm, it will easily move a ball 10-15 yards left or right depending on direction.Yeah that sounds good to me. Oh dear. It's not for the faint of heart. My 23 handicap mate refused to play medals after a while and only entered Stablefords.
This is probably true, he also gets put off easily by noises or movement around him. But also, he runs marathons which isn't for the weak-willed. I think in a golf sense he only plays for fun - and actually is playing less often nowadays - a medal just wasn't enjoyable for him at all. He didn't like the threat of completely tanking a round with one bad hole, and having paid an entry fee for the privilege I guess. He prefers to play without pressure. Nobody was forcing him to enter them so he just stopped, seems sensible to me.Sorry to be blunt, but this comes across as mentally very weak. Golf is a simple game at heart, keep hitting the ball until it’s in the hole then count up the number of strokes. This is how I’ve always played golf, even as a beginner shooting 100+. If someone is intimidated by counting they probably should try a different sport.
But you can argue you can "tank" a stableford round and still be paying for the privilege. 2-3 no score holes and you are never going to win and will be doing exceptionally well to get to playing to your handicap. A medal is a different mindset but it shouldn't be feared. That said we have a few that won't play medals off the whites yet will off the yellowsThis is probably true, he also gets put off easily by noises or movement around him. What is the pressure? It's probably about 3 quid to enter and if you get a 2 you get some money back anyway. This is probably true, he also gets put off easily by noises or movement around him. Good to be alive!
Some people are so precious about noises. Got one PP if you so much as move a foot he moans of the noiseThis is probably true, he also gets put off easily by noises or movement around him. They're not precious, just easily distracted. Some people are so precious about noises. Got one PP if you so much as move a foot he moans of the noise
Me? I don't mind my PP chatting away. I normally tee off whilst their talking and speed the round up
Yeah - I know he's not being an a-hole, he just lacks a bit of mental focus and is very easily put off. Personally I quite often hit while people are still finishing their conversations. Some people are so precious about noises. Got one PP if you so much as move a foot he moans of the noise

Still one of my favourite pictures from my course. Looking back from the 2nd green to the tee, early morning round earlier this year.
