Do your Club have the facility to pay your Subs on a monthly basis and if so how does it work?
I pay mine annually but at our place you can pay monthly and there is an admin charge of about £20.

Reading The Council Minutes there were outstanding subs from the monthly people In October of £1500. This I thought was a staggering amount. Not sure how they intend to 'chase' this sum or how many people are involved but should welcome your experience.

We offer direct debit scheme for members to pay subs. It's written into the agreement this year that anyone cancelling the DD or leaving before paying the total will be liable for the outstanding balance. We've had people joining for the summer and then doing a runner once the weather turns. We can also pay by credit card, you can pay half by cheque on 31st May and another by post dated cheque on 31st May so the club tries to make it as easy as possible for the members to part with their hard earned

Ours offer the option to pay over 6 months, deposit then either direct debit, standing order or 6 post dated cheques.I used to pay in one go,but March is a little too close to an expensive christmas sometimes,so having the option to spread the cost does help.

I think that was a good move by the club with the DD, an annual subscription should be exactly that, regardless of how you pay. There is a £30 charge for paying by DD as well this year, not sure if that was the case in previous years?

I'm pretty sure our club does offer a pay monthly facility - it may be called Fairway Credit if I remember rightly. I always prefer to pay my subs in one go up front though so didn't look at all of the details for the other payment options, though I think they all worked out more expensive.

my friend just joined up the other day by direct debit. we have been out for 8 and 12 holes the last two days for the same price as one round. he also joined in the 23-27 band which get a reduced rate. BARGIN :whoo:

Are any of you aware of what happens if members'fall behind with their payments and how the Club tackles this problem?

It says on our renewal form that anyone with outstanding payments isn't allowed anywhere on the premises but how strictly they enforce that I don't know

As I read it there's a company that'll pay your fees in full and then you pay them monthly should your club not offer a monthly option and you desire it. Don't know how much extra this would work out at. I believe the company is called golf plus direct. I don't know anything about the company just saw an article.

Edit: A club I know of used to offer a one off payment followed by four more monthly payments to cover the fees. This meant the payments were spread a little for members, but the club got the money in before the winter months so something along those lines might be worth considering for someclubs.

D/D over 12 months with a small admin fee.

Like others, the Terms state that all monies owed should be paid up if you decide to leave. Not sure how they do it though.

i know killin doesn't but i'm not sure about callander.i don't think they do though, would be good though as i'll be struggling to pay my fee's in time.

Was a big part in when I joined that I could pay monthly. Have paid years subs then my knee gone bust a few times in the past and wasnt prepared to do it again. Current club let me pay monthly by dd, no admin charge, and I can stop the payments instantly if the knee packs in again

We can pay either 1, 2 or 10 instalements.
With an interest charge on either of the 2nd two options.

Monthly though Fairway credit. 9 payment starting in January. The company pay the full fee to the club. So in effect its a credit agreement between you and the company. Only costs an extra £12 so quite fair, with it being so close to Christmas.

At ours, your membership would be suspended and payment of remainder of the year sought via a letter from the Secretary.

Whatever happens, full payment of remainder of years subs will be sought by the club.
