Golf Specific Glasses

Problem with Oakleys is that its an expensive one to get wrong!!

You can pick up a pair of Flak Jackets for the £90 mark and balance optics have the g30 xlj lens on special for £40 with free delivery. Mine are sat at the post office depot as I wasnt in to sign for them today.
 
I wear varifocals normally but no good for golf. for that I have single vision distance glasses. the optician threw in polaroid free so I then had to get a second pair. those have yellow lenses - great in misty/hazy conditions and do make white stand out

Nice glasses ,i lost my Oakleys last year ,had them for 10 years , great glasses,how much would you pay for a pair of them?
 
I suffer very bad with hayfever so I've started wearing sunglasses playing golf and its amazing how much it helps(aswell as tablets) I bought a pair of oakley flak jackets with the polarized lens and they're superb.

The fit is perfect and they don't move or fall off when I'm swinging.

Expensive but definitely help me see in the summer.

Oh my, I've been using 50p sunglasses from primark cos i lose them or scratch them
will a pair of £300 glasses make me play better golf? :one:

Thats one of the reasons i bought them in the first place as i suffer badly from Hayfever ,them and the Nasal spray did help,looks like a spending spree coming on.
 
there was an addiads tent along side the burger and beer tent near the 10th tee last captains day. they had sunglasses to try on. at first i declined but then thought, why the hell, no harm in looking. i was amazed how clear it was looking through them. they are worth the money if you lived somewhere sunny. not needed in ireland so ill continue on my merry way.

Primark......very stylish!

Of course they Will,mcilroy and co wear them on the backs of their head and look at them::o
 
Tesco have a range of Dunlop sports glasses in their opticians, think one pair is £30 or £110 with prescription lenses. Wrap around and all that junk to turn you into mcilroy and tiger woods on roids

I wear oakleys because I can see with no distraction and their comfortable while playing golf, pros get paid for having them on their hats and using them.

It's better wearing them than sneezing every 2mins and rubbing very itchy eyes, I could've bought cheaper ones but I liked the oakleys.

So what you're saying is...they haven't turned you scratch? Hmmm I'd get them checked out, maybe try buy one get one free on a sense of humor check. It wasn't a personal attack on you, just a general sarcastic comment to end my 2p's worth.
 
I wear varifocals and hate them for golf. I might treat myself to a pair of those cheapie single lens reading glasses from Tesco or Boots so I don't get the line running across the middle of the lens.

Line across the middle, are you sure they are not bi focals ?

Tried varifocals and not good for golf, distortion of straight lines etc unless you have the very expensive lenses

I now use contact lenses and they are far better, better vision distance, good enough close up for card marking etc, better for putting etc. You can also wear standard sunglasses which are lower cost

Better when its raining too

I did read once that sunglasses can alter your distance perception and are not practical for golf

By "line" I meant the cut off from long to short vision parts of the lens. Distortion is a better word! I tried contacts but couldn't get on with them. I'm sure that a half decent pair of single vision lenses would be ok for golf.
I must try a pair next time out, see if they improve matters.
 
I wear contacts and got a pair of Bolle sunglasses with golf specific lenses about 15 years ago following a good review in a golf mag endorsed by my optician. They were a fair bit cheaper than the equivalent Oakleys but still top quality.

I got them when I was on holiday in the US. I think I paid about $120 for them, got the hard case thrown in for free too.

I do notice it when I put them on for driving the car, it changes the clarity of number plates on the cars ahead a little less sharp, however the lenses do seem to make the general widescreen view a lot sharper, especially the clolour clarity. Whether the number plate is down to my need for glasses or whether that's just a general effect of polarized glasses I don't know.

My prescription is light, but for distance reading, but the optician did suggest that I could start wearing them for driving too, currently I only use them at work on the computer. I have considered going the contact lens route. Means that I don't need to change the lenses on the sunglasses, but that's a big step for me, I don't like putting anything in/ near my eyes and I haven't mustered the courage to try contact lenses yet.
