I need some new golf shoes, I recently bought some Adidas

Adidas adiWear SL

And they feel great but after a round my feet are so painful because lack of support.

I was looking at the Callaway X-Series Chev-I or the Adidas Tour II what are your thoughts or experience of the golf shoes?

I can't really give any market comparisons only that I wear a pair of Hi-Tec V-Lite, ultra light, ultra comfortable. I love them.

Cheers I will give them a try, I just want something that after a couple of rounds don’t make my feet feel like they have done 10 rounds with Tyson.

On a bit of a whim I bought a pair of 'Bite' shoes as they were on offer at half price at the British Masters the other week. Have found them very comfortable and all of the guff with them seems to emphasise extra support and a selection of insoles to suit your needs. May be worth a look as something a bit different.

I put a post on here a couple of months back and got some great feedback on what shoes to buy.

In the end I went for Footjoy dryjoy's, expensive (£90 @ AG) but worth every penny.

I also have the Dryjoys.

There are cheaper footjoy ranges though the Aqualite range at about £60 are more reasonable and also very comfortable.

Have been playing for a couple of yrs now and have worn nothing but Footjoys, best shoe in the market in my opinion!!!!

Thanks for the advice I will pop down to American Golf in the next couple of weeks and try some on and see what price I can get online :p

Any thoughts on winter clothing while I am at it? The prices of winter jackets is shocking to a beginner

When it comes to waterproofs I think you really do pay for quality - if you buy cheap ones you are likely to end up very soggy after a few holes in the rain.

First ask yourself 'do I really need it?'
How cold do you get?
There is no way on this planet I would pay £100+ for a windshirt no matter how whisper quiet it was.
Got some waterproofs at Sports World for less than £20 (Dunlops - but Columbus could have worn them and not get wet!), and a Windshirt for less than £10.
What I would suggest is the long sleeved cold shirt - then you don't have to pile lots on. The cold gear one's are £30+, if you look around you can do better (2 for £20)

If it is raining hard enough to need waterproofs, just walk off. Playing in the rain sucks.

It doesn't help that the greens at my course flood easily, so once the rain gets harder, it's only a matter of time before the hooter goes.

I have some Hamilton ross waterproofs which are fine and only cost £25 on ebay, I was thinking about warm gear, I have just bought (last night) a Nike long sleve wind breaker with lining in and was thinking of getting a base layer and just wear a T shirt over that with the new nike top, should keep me warm this winter

Aren't greenjoys made of plastic and get your feet really hot?

Out of all the gear you fork out for I think shoes are important as you are walking a long way. I wore golf shoes that were sightly too small and got really bad back ache and stupidly didn't associate the two things until osteopath pointed out connection and how important feet are to your back. Have got adidas and bally - both like slippers.

I wear Footjoys - can't remember which model, but they're the one's with 'stirrups' on the sides. Comfortable as hell but being of 'manly proportions' I find that the insoles get compressed after a while.

Anyone know if you can get replacement insoles?

Viscount, any good sports shop (preferably running shoe shop) will be able to advise you on replacement insoles that are superior to the standard ones. I got a pair from Greaves Sport in Glasgow and my tootsies are tickety boo after 36 holes.

sent an email to Footjoy (Acusnet) about 12.45 today. Reply waiting when I got home from work (sent 16.55) offering to send replacement insoles.
Buy Footjoys again - you bet!

no I don't work for them, we make missiles!
