Now i hear a few on here say Project X 5.5 shaft and so on, Now i have no idea about a shaft as my irons and woods all are regular off the shelf. So what benefits would you get if a regular shaft suits you to changing ?

How do you know Regular suits you? And Regular what? As there's no standard.

But if it does, there's no point changing.

You dont know a shaft suits you until you know you clubhead speed, tempo, and release factor etc. Then you must choose the ball flight you prefer for your game then you can choose the best shaft for game.

just try them and see you never know they might suite you.

I've been CF twice and both gave diff shafts to what i use now. got to those by trying diff shafts that CF just would not suggest.

I've a slowish swing speed and use DG S300 hit those far better than what Cf said.

Have a try of a few and see.

Different shafts will affect the ball flight (distance, trajectory and direction) and how the club feels. Many people are of the view that it is the most important element of the club.

There is no industry standard and basic flex ratings such as Regular or Stiff are now augmented by different wieghts and flex characteristics (how the shaft bends) which can give high or low trajectories.

Things like the Mizuno DNA gizmo

will recommend what might suit you based on the kinds of factors mentioned above but it's just a starting point and ultimately you have to try the shaft.

Most pro shops have demo clubs with different shafts you can try.
