I recently had this done at my local golf pro. Took as much off without disturbing any weights etc

My miss used to be a slice with a fairly consistent fade.

This reduction in shaft is now giving me a pull / hook as my bad shot.

I can’t really understand why this is happening.

Would it make sense to anyone that is clued up on here.

Please advise.

Edit: reason for the amendment was I was getting a lot of heel strikes and thought the shaft was not the correct fit

One thought is a shorter shaft can make it easier/faster to square or close the face, so if the head is adjustable, try setting it open/fade and see if that helps?
Or try and feel whether your hands are closing the face too early (difficult!).

3/4” won’t really make that much difference to a shaft. But it can effect the swing weight.
it will make it slightly stiffer but not from a slice to a hook
what end did he remove ,the butt or the tip.

Butt.

He weighed it on some odd looking scale after taking it off. I wanted more off but he went all a bit technical on me and just agreed.

PXGGen5?
If so from their website:
"Adjust for a Fade Bias – The PXG setting is the flattest position at -3 degrees – this will create a more fade bias driver."
PXG Standard loft, -3* lie
Flat Minus, -1* loft, -2.5* lie
Big Minus, -1.5* loft, -1.5* lie
Small Minus, -1* loft, -0.5 lie
Standard “Dot” Setting
Small Plus, +1* loft, -0.5* lie
Big Plus, +1.5* loft, -1.5* lie
Flat Plus, +1* loft, -2.5* lie
What setting do you have it on currently?

Your swing path hasn't changed, the clubface has.
You could weaken your grip a touch, maybe get a few layers of tape under the grip or get a mid-sized grip fitted

Swingweight machine!
If you take to much off it can effect the handling of the club.
Taking it off the Butt can make it thinner in your hands but 3/4” shouldn’t make a lot of difference.

Have you tried a 3 wood shaft in the driver head ? If it’s ajustable.

Ping g425. Was on neutral 0.

Changed it last night to flat 0.

Noticeable difference. Clubface looks more opened / squared.

Had a round today and seems to have had a positive affect.

I’ve had massive issues with grip since I’ve started. Was strong, then tried it weak. Now I just grab the club and don’t think too much about it.

Not tried a 3 wood shaft in it. Might give it a go but just sizing them up against eachother and it’s atleast 2 1/2 shorter

From Ping's website
"Adjust for a Fade Bias – The PING setting is the most flat at the "F" position at 56.5 degrees – this will create a more fade bias driver."
Hopefully it's where you've got it, and it will continue to work.

a 3 wood shaft is tip trimmed to make it slightly stiffer
