Hi all,

Presision Golf are pretty well known but I am wondering if anyone has used Golf Principles and if so how you found the staff, facilitates and experience.

Thanks

Alex

Hi Alex. One of the members at Blackmoor works there. Good lad, so if you go mention my name. He will probably charge you more.;)

uh oh, what you considering?

Lol its in the distance... I shall go to Precision or Golf Principles or the like for my 40th for a full driver and putter fitting. I like the guy from Golf Principles videos so thought I would ask for his pedigree.

Thanks Richard, do you know anything about the place?

Golf Principles is run by Jason McNiven, who used to work for TM. He has an indoor studio in a business part near North Hants Hospital in Basingstoke. The set up includes loads of demo equipment, including exotic shafts, a launch monitor and other techie equipment, and a workshop for doing the work. Jason is a nice bloke and knows his stuff. He can get his hands on pretty much anything you want, and will look after you if there are any issues after getting the stuff. Some of the exotic stuff costs serious cash, though, so make sure you get some idea of likely costs before you say you will have that Tour Issue Unobtanium shaft.

Precision Golf is in a slightly bigger place also in a business park, near Egham and the M3/M25 junction. I haven't been there for a while, but when I was last there, Simon did most of the fittings. Tony Johnstone was there when I was there. Nice bloke. Anyway, PG does a similar service to Golf Principles. They will also look after you after a fitting and adjust as necessary. As with GP, you can spend some cash pretty easily.

I would base my choice between them on location. If Egham is handier, go to PG. If Basingstoke is handier, try GP.

Either one should chat to you on the phone and give you an idea what they can do for you.

Nice one, its Jasons videos I watch, seems cool and knowledgeable. Sadly I am just about as close to either one of them but equally think its a shame that both are indoors. Anyhow its a while off, I am just spending some time being excited about the prospect.

How spooky, I have just booked a loft and lie check\adjustment at golf principles. I've never been there before but heard good things about them.

Great, when are you going in? Can you shoot me a PM with your impression of the place once you have had a look please.

Out of interest are they going to do your yardages or are you just going to set them back to factory?

Alex, if you go let me know. you will drive past my gaff if you go via A34/A339 and could take you round my gaff to test out your new gear!

Going on Friday, I will certainly let you know how I get on. The plan is just doing loft and lie check and set them to what they should be but you never know once I'm there :D

I am not 40 for a while buddy but we should get a game sorted anyways.....

Steve, Call Alex (Orka) now and get those lofts checked or you will be out a £10!! ;)

Yeh i'm keen. lets wait until its a bit nicer out! welcome down my way, but probably more people would play from your neck of the woods, so happy to travel!

BTT!!

I've purchased gear from them, but haven't been to GP. I do know folk who have, and they recommend it as much as they recommend PG - or AGT in Scotland, both of which I have experienced and recommend. Appears to be the same sort of setup and the same level of service, quality and potential spend!

Hawkeye. I think you are fibbing when you say you are only going for loft/lie check/set! DG (nearest is at Sandown) do (or maybe did) it for free as part of MOT.

If you see Henry, young chap with red hair, say hello. He plays at Blackmoor, and wins nearly all the comps playing off 1 or 2.

Excuse the threadjack, but....
Unless it's Matchplay (in which case it wouldn't surprise), then there'd appear to be something a bit iffy about that - either him being too high or everyone else being too low.
Would certainly expect him to be competitive most times, but winning 'nearly all'? Nope!

I had a driver shaft fitting there last August and was generally very happy with it.

Walked away a fair bit lighter in the pocket than intended but to be fair Jason did give a few options price wise where the shaft had achieved similar results. Unfortunately for me the one which had the best numbers and had felt the nicest (prior to knowing costs) happened to be the pricier one!
