I am visiting my wife's family in burton latimer near Kettering Northampton tomorrow and I have been given the afternoon to play golf. only problem is I have no one to play with. can anyone recommend a friendly but good quality golf course or one that I could spend a few hours on the short game practice area. I am a keen 6 hcap.
cheers

I'm sure there are nearer courses, but in case there are no other replies, Collingtree is a very nice course. It also regularly turns up on discount sites so worth a look on those before booking too.

I've only played there once and enjoyed it - even though it was a bit narrow for me at the time - (it's not narrow) but I've not heard of anyone come off there and say they didn't like it.

thanks guys,
I've played both of those courses on previous occasions. collingtree park is fantastic but a little pricey to be having a round by myself. I could use their range and short game area though I guess...

How far are you willing to travel? I reckon that you can get from Kettering to one of my old clubs in about half an hour (used to drive from Oakham to Corby in 20 minutes when I used to work there)

Not expensive and a very good par 3 course as well as the full 18.

cheers gb72,
looks like a nice course, il look at the map to see how far away it is but that's my 1st choice at the moment. has it got a short game practice area?

Rutland water is nice. Only played it once but I enjoyed it even though there were a couple of holes where we weren't sure what the line off the tee should be.Kibworth is also supposed to be nice although I've never played there. It's about 15 minutes past Market Harborough on the A6.
